MARYGROVE GIRLS CAMP COLLECTION
A NEW TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL
The way Catholics celebrate the
Eucharist follows a standard form.
We call this the Order of Mass. It
is comprised of 4 main parts: The
Introductory Rites, the Liturgy of
the Word, the Liturgy of the
Eucharist, and the Concluding
Rites. Our worship is one great
dialogue, namely that God speaks to us and we speak to
God. This is reflected in the many prayers and
responses spoken by the priest and the people. Our
prayers are not spontaneous, but have been given to us
from many sources through the generations. They are
collected together in the Sacramentary or Roman
Missal. Each prayer text conveys aspects of the great
mystery of faith that we celebrate.
In 2000, blessed John Paul II issued a 3rd Edition of the
Roman Missal based on the renewal of the sacred
liturgy called for by the bishops during the Second
Vatican Council. Originally produced in Latin, the
texts have been translated into English using a careful
method to preserve, as much as possible, the full
meaning of the text. On the first Sunday of Advent
2011, we will begin to use this new translation of the
Roman Missal. The prayers and acclamations will
sound different from the ones we now employ.
Therefore, we will need to learn the revised translations
of the parts of the Mass. In September, we will begin
to introduce these new translations. Further reflection
on the parts of the Mass and the meaning of the texts
will occur from January to June 2012. For more

Marygrove Camp provides an eight-day camp
experience to over 1,000 girls, ages 513, who may not otherwise have
such an opportunity. Families
experiencing financial or domestic
hardship may contact Society of
St. Vincent de Paul, Toronto
Central Council to determine their eligibility. Each
camper’s holiday is subsidized through the
generous support of this collection. For more
information, please visit www.svdptoronto.org.
LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA CD’s
We often have very good intentions to deepen our
relationship with Jesus, but life can be so busy.
Lighthouse has a number of excellent titles
available. CDs are $5 each or 5 for $20. There is
also an excellent book from Matthew Kelly, called
Rediscovering Catholicism. It can make a
wonderful gift for both someone who has been
away from the Church and those who want to
deepen their faith. And the book only costs $5.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Fr. Kim is looking for volunteers who have
completed our parish screening process to help
with bringing over the students of Fr. C.W.
Sullivan Catholic elementary school to and from
our church for a school Mass on Friday, June 17th
at 1:00 p.m. Volunteers may assist either by
accompanying the younger children on the bus or
by chaperoning the older ones as they walk.
Volunteers are asked to be at the school by 12:30
p.m. that day and should be finished with their
responsibilities by 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.
Please sign up in the office if you are able and
willing to help.

CONFIRMATION
Please note that we began a new process
for Confirmation preparation. This program
is for those who will be starting Grade 8 in
September 2011 or those who have
missed preparation and are 13 to 16 years
of age.
If your child attends a public or private
school, you must pick up a registration
form in the church office immediately.
This registration form (with a cover letter)
has already gone out to our seven parish
schools. If your grade 7 child did not bring
home a form, pick one up in the church
office.
Please note that your child’s registration
form must be returned to the church office
no later than 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June
17, 2011 with a photocopy of the child’s
Baptismal
Certificate
and
the
registration fee.
Church Bloopers
“The Church will host an evening of fine dining,
super entertainment and gracious hostility!!
It is critical for you to know that to be hired to
teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario as
part of your application for employment, there
must be a letter of reference from your pastor. If
you, or if your adult child, are planning to apply to
teach in a Catholic School, contact with the pastor
before Thanksgiving is highly recommended.
Please plan to have a conversation with your
pastor early in the process and you will avoid
disappointment and stress at a time when
applications are to be submitted.
