JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate the scheduling, repair, maintenance and/or pesticide application for the
District’s grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.
Supervise the on-going activities of a ground crew to include scheduling and
arranging work assignments; coordinating ad-hoc services for special events.
Inspect and evaluate the crew’s landscaping work and maintain appropriate
records.

Inspect for ground infestations; apply appropriate pesticides and/or other
hazardous materials, as needed; ensure compliance with local and/or state laws.

3.
Instruct assigned staff in safety and efficient utilization of tools, hazardous
material and machinery; ensure equipment is properly maintained; may perform
general preventive equipment maintenance as needed.

4.
Responsible for the inspection of Backflow Preventers and perform minor routine
repairs as needed.

5.
Estimate and maintain needed materials and supplies; prepare proper purchase
requisitions; provide information on equipment/chemical needs.

Compile data; update and provide project reports; provide budget input.

7.
Other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Managing Director, Physical Plant
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of grounds crews.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of trade school or
specialized training.
EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years related experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Valid Texas driver’s license and eligible for insurability.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Skills/Abilities: Computer skills, ability to operate a tractor, dump truck and/or backhoe.
2.
Equipment Used: Company vehicle, backflow prevention assembly tester, sockets/wrenches
and spray tank.
3.
Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation
software.
