POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Grounds Foreman Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified G (Skilled Trades) JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate the scheduling, repair, maintenance and/or pesticide application for the District’s grounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 30% 1. Supervise the on-going activities of a ground crew to include scheduling and arranging work assignments; coordinating ad-hoc services for special events. Inspect and evaluate the crew’s landscaping work and maintain appropriate records. 2. Inspect for ground infestations; apply appropriate pesticides and/or other hazardous materials, as needed; ensure compliance with local and/or state laws. 30% 3. Instruct assigned staff in safety and efficient utilization of tools, hazardous material and machinery; ensure equipment is properly maintained; may perform general preventive equipment maintenance as needed. 15% 4. Responsible for the inspection of Backflow Preventers and perform minor routine repairs as needed. 15% 5. Estimate and maintain needed materials and supplies; prepare proper purchase requisitions; provide information on equipment/chemical needs. 5% 6. Compile data; update and provide project reports; provide budget input. 5% 7. Other duties as assigned. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Managing Director, Physical Plant SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of grounds crews. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of trade school or specialized training. EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years related experience. Skills/Abilities: Computer skills, ability to operate a tractor, dump truck and/or backhoe. 2. Equipment Used: Company vehicle, backflow prevention assembly tester, sockets/wrenches and spray tank. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software.
