POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Human Resources Clerk Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified C JOB SUMMARY: Provide clerical assistance in support of the operation, process, and documents as it relates to all functions of the Personnel Services Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 20% 1. Greet visitors, answer phones, take messages, route calls and follow-up, respond to inquires and/or refers as appropriate to include but not limited to employment verifications and employment opportunities with the district. Prepare and process employment verifications. Balance and deposit petty cash. 2. Provide informational assistance to prospective and current employees; assist with the completion of application forms; review applications and related documentation to ensure compliance with district policies and governmental regulations; advise applicants regarding outstanding documentation and assist in the resolution of discrepancies. 20% 3. Create and maintain pending employment filing system for all confidential payroll and personnel related documents, including employment applications, I-9s, W4s, transcripts, employment verifications, etc. 20% 4. Maintain the EPCCCD job lines, scripts and keys in recorded messages on TDD line; assist with the copying, distribution and mailing of job announcements and advertising materials; maintain the personnel bulletin board and lobby. 20% 5. Provide backup clerical assistance as needed, including routine computer input, proofing, copying and distribution of personnel documentation; and prepare and distribute routine correspondence. 15% 6. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
