JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Risk Management and Safety
Office activities associated with the District’s Safety Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.
Provide support to the Risk Manager in developing, implementing, administering,
and evaluating the District’s Safety Program; ensure compliance with applicable
laws and regulations and ensure best practices for the College.
2.
Assist with all aspects of the Volunteer Safety Corps program to include
recruiting, helping with safety drills, training, tracking campus locations, and
coordinating College safety actions with the Police Department.

3.
Establish recordkeeping methods that monitor the Hazardous Communication
Program to include updating and maintaining chemical records. Assist in
integrating the Globally Harmonizing System to the College.

4.
Assist with the research, preparation, and presentation of employee safety training
programs to include creation of training materials. Assist in promoting safety in
the workplace.

5.
Assist in keeping College Safety Manual, Employee Handbook, College
procedures and printed materials current.

6.
Assist Risk Manager with safety walkthroughs and inspections throughout the
College. Assist in investigating and documenting accidents and safety complaints
or violations.

7.
Research current injury trends to identify needed training subjects. Responsible
for running reports.

8.
Respond to questions; coordinate follow-up responses; order, receive, and
distribute safety materials and equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years related experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and insurable by
the district’s auto liability insurance carrier.

equipment associated with an office, classroom, and conference room environments.

Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and
presentation software.

occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability
to adjust focus.

mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals;
outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate.
