POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Media Producer Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional E (TS) JOB SUMMARY: Produce educational, promotional and community oriented television programs and other media materials. Consult with clients regarding the creation and effective use of media materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 60% 1. Responsible for producing video, audio programs, short items and other media materials with the help of staff members. Develop every aspect of an assigned project to include initial planning, script preparation, finishing and delivering of final product for broadcast, web-based or disc distribution. Manage issues related to limited resources while still providing the highest quality of programs possible. May function as a crew member to help other producers when needed. 2. Consult with other departments in the College in an advisory capacity. Serve on committees to develop and implement a marketing strategy for various departments in the College. Collaborate with faculty to plan and design academic structure for mass communication curriculum. 15% 3. Research new media methodologies, technologies and workflow. Work with and mentor students in all phases of production. Assist students in employment and internships. 15% 4. Maintain accurate records and schedules of production activities and equipment usage and conditions; coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs as necessary. Prepare reports and billing statements. 5% 5. Software Used: Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut, Adobe Creative Suite, Digidesign ProTools, various compression tools. Microsoft Office.
