POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Manager Program Manager, Student Technology Services (STS) Exempt CATEGORY: Professional GRADE: C JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for managing, planning, and the administration of a designated program. Manager is responsible for carrying out the goals and objectives of the STS Program. YEARLY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: PERCENT OF TIME 1. Responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of the 25% District’s STS Program. Oversee processes that support planning, evaluation, budgeting, policy formulation, and similar functions involved in the effective management of the STS Program. 2. Coach and mentor the STS Managers/Supervisors on student involvement to ensure the development and maintenance of a working environment that fosters sensitivity and respect for student’s diverse backgrounds. 20% 3. Establish and maintain partnerships with community businesses/ organizations, educational institutions, and other entities to support and market the STS program and acquire funding. Coordinate recruitment events and technical staff development workshops to promote the program and provide services to students and prospective students. 15% 4. Develop and present training for the STS students that fosters and demonstrates leadership in the workplace. Serve as a mentor for the STS students. 10% 5. Assess the District’s multicultural climate, identify barriers, and propose effective resolutions on an on-going basis. 10% 6. Provide personnel management direction and guidance to staff including orientation, performance appraisal, professional development, coaching and counseling. Participate in setting performance goals and priorities that contribute to departmental mission. 10% 7. Develop budget recommendations and monitor program expenditures. Ensure equipment and software is available for student use as needed by the program. 5% 8. EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years related experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Ability to formulate STS program goals and objectives and to effectively market the program to select target audiences; Strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and teambuilding skills; Ability to allocate and make efficient use of financial resources; Ability to interact with students and act in an advisory capacity; Ability to recruit, screen hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and establish developmental plans for a culturally diverse staff; Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills; Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form; Ability to work collaboratively in developing partnerships and teamwork; Ability to clearly and effectively present ideas in meetings and in oral presentations. 2. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
