3 Introduction
This document covers how to create an ‘all day event in your live@UCL calendar
using Outlook 2007
There are two ways in which you can use an ‘all day event’:
1. To block out days of calendar when you will be unavailable eg when you are
on annual leave or at a conference
2. To act as a reminder of an event (eg when a colleague is on annual leave)
occurring on a particular day(s) that does not block out time on your calendar
4 Use an All day event to block out a day
1. In Calendar view, double click on the area at the top of the column for the day on
which you would like to create an All day event
2. In the Event window, type in a Subject and if applicable a Location for your All
day event
3. By default, a tick will be placed in the box next to All day event
4. Change your Show As: label to Busy or Out of office (as appropriate)

5. When you have finished, click on the Save and Close button
Tip! You can also make an event private (ie the details of the event will not be visible
to others) by clicking on the Private button on the Event tab in the Tags group
5 Use an All day event to act as a reminder
1. In Calendar view, double click on the area at the top of the column for the day on
which you would like to create an All day event
2. In the Event window, type in a Subject and if applicable a Location for your All
day event
3. By default, a tick will be placed in the box next to All day event
4. Your Show As: label will be set to Free by default. Do not change this.

5. Click on the Save and Close button
Your event will now appear as a daily note at the top of the column on the day
chosen in your Calendar. It will not block out your entire day.
