Welcome/Call to Order.

President's Report
o The District authorized to go into negotiations with Casino 580
for property lease
o Zach Papachristos said no Chabot administration was present at
Reed Buffington’s memorial, but there were Chabot
representatives there

Vice President's Report
o No report

Secretary's Report
o June minutes (with changes) approved unanimously

Treasurer's Report
o No report because the district hasn’t approved the budget

SEIU Report
o Chabot
 The District was served with a failure to negotiate on good
faith
 The District offer was countered
 The District wants to negotiate medical later as a
“reopener” and the Union does not

Shared Governance
o Committee wants to update what is reality versus the old chart
o They want the updates to be done by first accreditation report
o They need to know how it is done now before official changes are
made
o Classified Senate and Student Senate wants to be represented
on Shared Governance

Flex Day
o August 15 – College Day
 Mandatory sexual harassment training
 Scavenger hunt with prizes
o September 2 – Flex Day
o October 15 – Flex Day
 Want a new MS Office updates class
 Training for other software updates too?
o Based on poll taken after June meeting, it is evident that there is
a demand for BANNER training

o A computer program exists for computer training in various
subjects, such as new or updated computer programs but it
costs money and those that use it have purchased it with
personal funds
o Chabot ITS has help links on its website for those who need
assistance
o Want to push health for Classified Staff for health/longevity
benefits
 Exercise
 Open the pool
 Sports facilities
 Meditation/Yoga
 Nutrition
o Basic first aid training requested

Sign a card for Karen Silva’s retirement

Classified Senate Retreat
o August 5, 9 am – 3 pm, Event Center 700
o Senators, Officers, Representatives
o Discussed plans and schedule for the day


o All bond equipment that went through first priority was approved
o Next meeting will be regarding purchasing software

Bookstore Committee
o Will meet in September
o Follet has requested official board-approved gladiator logo for
merchandise
 No one knows what is board-approved gladiator logo
 Most divisions seem to create or use their own


o Suggestion: We could have guest speakers at Classified Senate
Meetings after we go through the reports
o Suggestions for guest speakers
