Two members trying to get out of that life coming to Chabot to become credentialed teachers. It’s funded totally by state, Packard foundation, etc. YW-two cohorts of 60 students each. Completing summer bridge program. Will transfer to Cal State East Bay’s teacher program. Two support people to help the people transition. Will give one on one support, progress reports, etc. Yw- will also be a gang specialist counselor. IPBC becoming PRBC. I will be stepping down as co-chair of this. George Railey is one of the chairs and is looking for a new co-chair. New integrated program review process. RM-Still have money in our account, about $700, but need to start doing some fund-raising. GW and YW – Town Hall Meeting at LPC. Small group came but very vocal. Round table discussion about tips and tricks of programs used. Exercise suggestions to avoid carpal tunnel, etc. Fund-raising suggestions discussed. DK- Have blank forms on your desk for donations to Classified Senate. NM – Next Flex day we need to do something fun, not just meetings, but something to encourage mixing and mingling between the campuses and to re-energize everyone and raise moral. CG – Administrators need to take speech classes not engaged when speaking. TA-At Financial Aide we all want to go to Convocation, but we can’t. We have to stay open. GC – Together is an important word. Howard took Melinda Matsuda’s place. Our new V.P. seems open to things.l Susan Cota changed job description at LPC so we couldn’t bump them from jobs [during layoffs]. This is causing trouble with the reclassification study, not helpful there. YW –I would like to have more interaction with LPC to learn from their grant-writer. Open a line of communication. DK – Not clear on divisions. They have Division 1, 2, 3 we have Social Sciences, etc. SM – They are separate entities. Do things differently. GC – Would like to see us separate. We have a two college system and District Office. Dissipate District Office would have a hell of a fight. We have different clientele/culture and do things differently. More conservative there. GW – Two names on the Classified Award Plaque and still sitting in my office. Need to decide where this will go. DK – Lisa Carlson is visiting us today. She works with Monica Munger. GC – SEIU report candidate interview night to meet our candidates up for election – Board members on Saturday 9-11-10. Trying to set dates for negotiation. Represent East Bay Regional. Trying to reach out being hurt by our leaders – want to attack our pensions. It’s really the leaders that are getting the big bucks and double dipping. People coming back after 2 weeks. Should have been six months. People don’t realize we pay 7% of our wages. We are not raising union dues. Come to the meetings. We’ve got to come together. Top class are dictating policy to us but don’t want to be look at or THEIR pensions. Don’t want leaders messing with our PERS pensions. Don’t want Furloughs. Classified hold things together we always take the hits. Faculty gets 50% off with pay to negotiate, we don’t. A lot of Classified are as educated as faculty and administrators but we are looked down on and they won’t do anything extra unless they get paid. District holding up on our negotiations and won’t set a date. Need Public Analysis – know where the money is going. Meeting Adjourned 2:10 p.m.
