College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP) Minutes for Meeting of December 6, 2010 A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, December 6 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members present were: Lee Cohen, Erin Collopy, Jerry Koch, David Lamp, Chris Monico, Rich Rice, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Scarborough and Howe (Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies), Dr. Durband (Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work), Drs. McBee and Barenberg (History), Drs. Pearce and Toda (Mathematics), and Dr. Gellene (Chemistry). 1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Add Graduate Certificate Program in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. 2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Add CMRS 5399 Independent Study. 3. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work: Add ANTH 3343 Human Osteology. 4. The committee voted against recommending to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work: Add ANTH 5310 Human Osteology. 5. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the Department of History: Add HIST 5102 Instructional Methods. 6. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics: Change title and description for MATH 1351 Calculus I. Change title and description for MATH 1352 Calculus II. Change title and description for MATH 2350 Calculus III. 7. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the Department of Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry: Change title and description for CHEM 1101 Chemistry Bridge Course. Add CHEM 3101 Organic Bridge Course. The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, January 10, for proposals that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, January 3.
