College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP) Minutes for Meeting of September 24, 2007 A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members present were: Ken Baake, Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Anthony Qualin, Mark Stoll, Zhuang Beh, and David Roach. Presenters were: Brian Collins, Phil Marshall, Dennis Patterson, and John Barkdull (Political Science); and Bill VanPatten (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures). 1. Committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the Department of Political Science. * Change course description: PUAD 5345 Admin Ethics & Leadership * Add new course: PUAD 5319 Research methods in Public Admin 2. Committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from CMLL: Delete and Changes - LING 5315 Pedagogical Grammar of 2nd FL & ESL - LING 5312 Linguistics for 2nd Lang Educators - LING 5320 Second Lang Writing - LING 5322 Foundations of Lang Teach - LING 5325 Techno in Lang Teach - LING 5327 2nd Lang Curric Design - LING 5328 Teaching English in Internat Contexts - LING 5330 Second Lang Acquisition - LING 5340 Second Language Testing - LING 5383 Sem in Second Lang Acquisition delete change title, #, and descript change title & descript change title & descript change title & descript change title, #, & descript change number change title & descript change title, #, & descript change title, #, & descript 3. Committee voted to table the proposal for a Combined Global Affairs/Master of International Affairs Degree Program from Political Science and Office of International Affairs. The committee felt that the proposal needs some revision and needs to include some additional information. Itemization of these needs will be provided to the proposers. When the committee receives the revised proposal, discussion and consideration will continue. The next scheduled meeting of ASCAP is set for Monday, October 8, for proposals that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, October 1st.
