College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP)
Minutes for Meeting of November 12, 2012
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Gretchen Adams, Erin Collopy, Miles Condon, David Lamp, Chris
Monico, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Stratton, Gorsuch, and Griffee (Classical & Modern
Languages & Literatures), and Drs. Iyer, Ledet, and Seaquist (Mathematics and Statistics).
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
 Change title and description for ESL 5310 Spoken English Fluency.
 Add ESL 5312 Class and Academic Communication for ITAs.
2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposals from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics:
 Add MATH 6325 Category Theory.
 Add Graduate Certificate Program in Mathematics.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, November 26, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, November 19.
