Minutes for Meeting of September 9, 2013
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, September 9 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee
members present were: Jim Barrick, Scott Baugh, Nelson Dometrius, Art Durband, Matt Olson, Travis
Roach, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Singh and Gao (Environmental Toxicology), and Dr. Lowe
(Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work).
1. No departmental representative was able to attend the meeting so the following proposals from
the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures were tabled:
 Delete LAIS 2300 Latin America and Iberia Introduction.
 Delete LAIS 3300 Topics in Latin American and Iberian Studies.
 Delete LAIS 4300 Seminar in Latin American and Iberian Studies.
2. No departmental representative was able to attend the meeting so the following proposals from
the Department of Psychology were tabled:
 Change name of department to Department of Psychological Sciences.
 Change number and hours for PSY 5304 Practicum in Intelligence Testing.
3. Pending clarification, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposal from the Department of Environmental Toxicology:
 Change ENTX 6300 Molecular Methods in Toxicology Laboratory.
4. Pending revisions, the committee voted to table the following proposals from the Department of
Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work::
 Proposal for New Masters in Social Work.
 Add SW 5160 Field Seminar.
 Add SW 5264 Foundation Field Placement 1.
 Add SW 5310 Social Work Profession and Social Welfare Policy.
 Add SW 5311 Human Behavior & the Social Environment: Systems.
 Add SW 5312 Human Behavior & the Social Environment: Lifespan.
 Add SW 5331 Social Work with Diverse Populations.
 Add SW 5332 Foundation Practice 1.
 Add SW 5333 Foundation Practice 2.
 Add SW 5339 Foundations of Social Work Research.
 Add SW 5467 Foundation Field Placement 2.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, September 23, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, September 16.
