If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of liturgy, choir member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your attendance at a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another location, you should have a certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry. There are two PGC programs coming up in September. The first, in English, is to be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011, from 2-4 PM in the Choir/Media room in the lower church. The second, in Spanish, will be held on the following Sunday, September 17, 2011 at the same time and in the same place. If you plan to attend either session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039/blackbm@bc.edu) and Betty McLaughlin (617-552-6102 / ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible or at least before September 2, 2011. In order to make it work, for both catechists and children, the class size needs to be such that all involved will receive the instruction and attention they deserve. In order to be fair to all of the families who are involved, we need to limit the number of children who are able to register to 60. One of the requirements for participating in this program will be attendance at the retreat (October 21-23). It is NOT a requirement to stay overnight at the retreat. If you were NOT a participant in the program last year (2010-2011), you are required to meet with Amy Chapman in order to register for this program.
