“COME AND JOURNEY WITH US”
On Monday evening, September 19th at 7:15 pm in the Friary Room, we will initiate an eight week program on
the essentials of the Catholic Faith.
An inquiry program for non-Catholics
A welcome back for inactive Catholics
An updating for practicing Catholics
This program leads into RCIA for those wishing to become Catholics and Confirmation for those who are Baptized
and have received Eucharist.
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Archdiocese of Boston requires all volunteers (in whatever capacity) to complete a training program in child
abuse protection. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of
liturgy, choir member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your
attendance at a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another location,
you should have a certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If you have
any questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry.
There are two PGC programs coming up in September. The first, in English, is to be held on Sunday, September
11, 2011, from 2-4 PM in the Choir/Media room in the lower church.
The second, in Spanish, will be held on the following Sunday, September 17, 2011 at the same time and in the same
place.
If you plan to attend either session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039/blackbm@bc.edu) and Betty
McLaughlin (617-552-6102 / ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible or at least before September 2, 2011. Space is
always limited.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere for all the children at St. Ignatius
Parish.

FAITH FORMATION
REGISTRATION FOR 2011 – 2012
Registration for the 2011-2012 academic year began on Sunday, June 5th. As usual, the
earlier you register, the easier it is for our office. In recognition and appreciation of that, we
offer a discount on our suggested donation to people who register prior to September 1st .
Our suggested donation this year is $250; if you register prior to September 1, we suggest a donation of $200.
ALL CATECHETICAL SESSIONS WILL BEGIN
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2011.
Programs we offer:
→ Preschool, ages 3-4
→ Classroom-based Kindergarten-Grade 5
→ Arts-Based Program, grades 1-5 (more information below)
→ Traditional Middle School (social justice focus)
→ Just Youth – book club for middle school students
→ Confirmation Preparation (two year program; typically completed in 9th and 10th grade)
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTS-BASED PROGRAM
The ABP operates from a pedagogy which is experiential. In order to make it work, for both catechists and
children, the class size needs to be such that all involved will receive the instruction and attention they deserve. In
order to be fair to all of the families who are involved, we need to limit the number of children who are able to
register to 60. One of the requirements for participating in this program will be attendance at the retreat (October
21-23). It is NOT a requirement to stay overnight at the retreat. If you were NOT a participant in the program last year
(2010-2011), you are required to meet with Amy Chapman in order to register for this program.
