REFUGEE AWARENESS ON WORLD DAY FOR MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES
Pope Benedict has declared January 16, 2011 as World Day for Migrants and
Refugees. The St. Ignatius ARRUPE group (Assisting Refugee Resettlement
Using Parish Energies) will offer a refugee awareness session in the Media
Room in the lower church at 11 am on 1/16/2011.
Come see excerpts from an award-winning film on the refugee experience.
Find out what the Church does to help refugees: globally, around the US, in
Massachusetts and right here at St. Ignatius Parish. Hear other parishioners
and refugees share their experiences. Find out where to get more information.
Come to the awareness session. If you can’t make it on that date, but want to
know more, email: engler@bc.edu or devlin.jane@gmail.com
EVANGELIZATION SUNDAY IN THE ARCHDIOCESE – JANUARY 23RD
John the Baptist points to Jesus and says,
“Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the
sins of the world.” Jesus is the one who
reconciles us with God and with each other. We
have been touched by the light of God’s love
through Jesus and brought together in the Body
of Christ, the Church. Having so great a gift, we
are to be light to others, shining with the love
and truth that God has given to us.
Next Sunday, January 23, is Evangelization
Sunday in our parish and throughout the whole
Archdiocese of Boston. Cardinal Seán will be
inviting us to join with other parishes in the
Archdiocese’s new outreach, Catholics Come
Home®.
Do you know someone who is away
from the Church? Come and hear how you can
be involved personally to invite home any who
are distant from the life of our parish and of the
Catholic Church.
Next week there will be a second collection. All
proceeds will fund the purchase of television
and radio advertisements which will air during
Lent 2011 to welcome home to our Catholic
family those who have been away for any
reason. The Catholics Come Home® campaigns
in other dioceses have been extremely effective
in inviting and bringing Catholics to renewed
participation in parish life. With your help, we
can bring thousands of Catholics to a fuller
participation in the life of the Church. Please
visit www.CatholicsComeHome.org for more
information.
