As one reviewer states, "Offering direction and hope to individuals and churches, Christianity After Religion is Bass's call to approach faith with a newfound freedom that is both life-giving and service driven. And it is a hope-filled plea to see and participate in creating a fresh, vital, contemporary way of faith that stays true to the real message of Jesus." Please join us in the living room of the Parish Office for an enlivening discussion. THE TRANSITIONS GROUP AT ST. IGNATIUS - SUPPORT FOR THE UNEMPLOYED “GETTING (AND ACING) THE INTERVIEW: WHAT I LEARNED FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE INTERVIEW TABLE”. April 11th – This Wednesday at 7:15 PM in the Friary Room - Kevin Meme, a St. Ignatius parishioner and member of the Parish Pastoral Council, is a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, one of the world's leading management consulting firms. In his recruiting role at BCG, Kevin interviews candidates experiencing one of the most rigorous application processes in the corporate world—a process he went through himself as an interviewee. Kevin also has extensive experience in various interview settings, for institutions ranging from non-profits, to Ivy League business schools, to the federal government and Google. He looks forward to sharing the perspectives he has gained from "both sides of the table" as an interviewee and interviewer. Some topics to be covered are: getting the interview, preparing for telephone interviews, screening of resumes, and questions during the interview, etc. There will be time for Q & A. This event will be held in the Friary Room. All are welcome! ST. IGNATIUS COOKBOOKS FOR SALE! During the last months of 2011, St. Ignatius Faith Formation families compiled family recipes that are relatively easy to make, to allow families to spend more time together. The cookbooks are a fundraiser to help the parish to build a playground at St. Anne’s in Jamaica, and are on sale for $15. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, email Amy Chapman at chapmaab@bc.edu or call 617.552.6103. You can also stop by the Parish Office to purchase one. 2. You are cordially invited, and to bring your "brown bag lunch" to eat. Questions may be addressed to Timothy at: zimmerta@bc.edu 3. FAITH FORMATION Summer Service Trips for High School Youth This summer, thirty-three of our high school youth will be participating in service/immersion trips to learn more about themselves, others, and social justice. TACNA, PERÚ July 23 – August 5 Eight of our young parishioners will be traveling with two St. Ignatius Staff members to Tacna, a city in southern Perú, to live and work with the residents of the Habitat, a section of the city founded by Jesuits. We will be working with youth and adult members of the Habitat community to improve private and public spaces in the neighborhood. CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY August 13 – 18, August 20-25 Twenty-five students over the course of two different weeks will be traveling to the Romero Center, a social justice retreat house in Camden, NJ. While there, they will live simply in community with peers from other church groups, spending the days interacting with residents of Camden and the evenings reflecting on their experiences. HOW CAN I HELP? During our preparation and participation in these experiences, we would greatly appreciate your prayers for safe travel, positive interactions, and good learning experiences. In addition to prayers, we will be asking the parish to financially support these experiences as well. We hope to fundraise half of the cost of each trip for each participant. Throughout the spring we will be selling items (including St. Ignatius clothing!) and offering other opportunities for you to support our endeavors. For more information, please contact Dan Robb at daniel.robb@bc.edu or 617.552.6112 or Amy Chapman at chapmaab@bc.edu or 617.552.6103.
