ST. IGNATIUS TRANSITIONS GROUP SUMMER SCHEDULE
During the summer months, the Transitions Group will meet every other week. There will be NO
MEETING on Wednesday, June 1st . The summer meetings will be on the following Wednesdays from
1:00 to 2:30 PM – June 8 & 22, July 6 & 20, and August 3, 17, & 31. Weekly meetings will resume on
Wednesday, September 7th. The Transitions Group is for parishioners in career transition and seeking to
network, gain access to helpful resources or simply get support and fellowship in a non-threatening and

ARRUPE: HELP FOR FAMILIES FLEEING PERSECUTION
The Church stands in solidarity with refugee families around the world,
accompanying them, providing education, pastoral care, advocacy, and
assistance in resettlement. This is the ministry of the Jesuit Refugee
Service, the USCCB Migration and Refugee Services and many other
Church organizations.
This is also the ministry of the ARRUPE group at St. Ignatius parish. On the weekend June 4th
and 5th, ARRUPE members will be collecting at the door after each liturgy to fund their refugee
support activities.

CONCERT GIVEN BY MICHELLE ABADIA WITH TIMOTHY ZIMMERMAN, PIANO
You are cordially invited to a voice recital given by Michelle N. Abadia, Soprano and guitarist;
with Timothy Zimmerman, piano, on Friday, June 17th, 8 PM, here at St. Ignatius in the upper
church.
Ms. Abadia has been a cantor at most of the weekend liturgies for about 16 years. Timothy
Zimmerman has been associate music director and organist at St. Ignatius for 20 years. The two
of them have collaborated extensively, not only in liturgies, but also on the stage.
The performance will feature works by G. Rossini, J. C. Menotti, C. Gounod, I. Berlin, S.
Sondheim, G. Gershwin, and Latin American composers of Spanish-language ballads and folk
music.
The performance is free and open to the public. Come join us for what promises to be a very
enjoyable evening for all.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES

Lawrence on three Saturday nights – June 25th, July 23rd and August
20th. If you/your family members would like to be on a serving crew,

but they should be at least ten years of age.
HABITAT BUILD SCHEDULED:
Join a team of St. Ignatius parishioners that
will be working at a Habitat-for-Humanity Greater Boston construction sites in
Dorchester on Saturday, June 4th. You can do it! Energy and enthusiasm are the only requirements
-- no prior construction experience necessary. Spend the day working to “build hope by building
homes” in partnership with low-income families in need of decent housing. To sign up, contact Anton

their work (donations are used to underwrite the cost of materials and Habitat

RESPECT LIFE NEWS - The Respect Life Committee wishes to thank all who participated in and
contributed to the Annual Mother's Day Roses for Life distribution. You gave $905 to help women in
crisis pregnancies and their children.

of Project Rachel, the Church's ministry to help alleviate that suffering, will be held Saturday, June 25, at

UNDERHILL’S PRACTICAL MYSTICISM REVISITED: 100 YEARS LATER

Presenter: Colleen M. Griffith, STM Associate Professor of Practical Theology and faculty director
of spirituality studies.
Evelyn Underhill was a mystic and a married woman in ministry who lived from 1874 -1941.
She was the first woman to give a series of theological lectures at Oxford, and the first to become a
retreat leader in the Anglican Church. Underhill authored numerous works on Christian spiritual
life, and is widely recognized for her classic text Mysticism. Please register.
LIVING AN INTEGRATED LIFE OF NONVIOLENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY
Thursday and Friday, July 14 and 15, 2:00-4:15 p.m. Presenters: Suzanne and Brayton Shanley, cofounders of Agape Community, a lay Catholic residential community, ecumenical and interfaith in
outreach and practice.
This workshop will develop the theology, theory, and practice of a life that integrates the Gospel
of nonviolence, contemplative prayer, simplicity, and environmentally sustainable living, with
the goal of modeling a meaningful Christian way of life for laity in the 21st century. Early

THE SACRAMENTS
BAPTISM
Adults are baptized at the Easter Vigil as part of the Rites of Christian Initiation for
Adults. Infant and child baptisms are by arrangement.
FIRST EUCHARIST
Preparation begins in Grade 1 and includes classes, retreats and home instruction.
CONFIRMATION
Our Confirmation program begins in the 9th grade. Students are confirmed in the
Spring of the 10th grade. Young adults who have been catechized but are not yet
confirmed should contact the rectory for an alternative program.
MATRIMONY
Must be registered as a parishioner six months prior to beginning Marriage
arrangements.
RECONCILIATION
Saturdays 3:15 - 3:45 PM Upper Church or by arrangement
