ST. IGNATIUS COMMUNITY SUMMER READ
St Ignatius community would like to invite you to join fellow parishioners in a Summer St.
Ignatius Community Parish Read. Please join our community in reading Julia Alvarez'
Wedding in Haiti. To our children, we invite you to read Julia Alvarez' Return to Sender
which is available in both English and Spanish. Look for exciting details on how we plan to share our
responses to these two books in next week’s bulletin. Happy Summer!!
ST. IGNATIUS MUSIC MINISTRY
Sincere thanks to the members of our 10am Parish Choir, who will be taking a break during
the summer months, resuming after Labor Day. Our 5:30pm Contemporary Ensemble and Latino Coro

liturgies week after week for which we are most grateful. Anyone interested in more information about
our ensembles can go to our webpage or contact Michael Burgo at burgo@bc.edu.

new tunes as well as old favorites with Timothy Zimmerman at the mighty Cassavant Organ
and Michael Burgo leading us all in song. Bring your friends to this exciting evening in the

WANT MORE INSIGHT INTO THE READINGS YOU HEAR AT MASS?
Join us for PASTA
AND
PRAYER, a prayerful conversation with friends over dinner to
discuss the Sunday scriptures. Feed your body, mind and soul!! The next session, What Do
You Hunger For?, discussing the readings for Ordinary Time, Part Two, will take place on Thursday,
June 21st in the Parish Office from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. All are welcome! Prior registration required: call
Catherine at 617-782-5812 or email to cfdesq@hotmail.com.
BOOK DISCUSSION
There will be a discussion of the book The Angel Esmeralda: Nine Stories written by Don DeLillo on
Sunday, June 24th at 11:15 am in the parish offices. A review in the Jesuit magazine, America, suggests
that Ignatian spirituality permeates much of DeLillo's fiction. "We see how each subject finds its pitchperfect expression with DeLillo's truly incarnational sense of each and every word…. This former
Catholic schoolboy deserves the attention of anyone who values great fiction. He is a master of the art."
Come and share your reactions to these stories on June 24th.
TRANSITIONS
SUPPORT FOR THE UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED
For all “Transitioners”, present and former, employed or unemployed or underemployed, and also to all
facilitators (past and present). Transitions at St. Ignatius will be presenting its annual “alum” reunion on
June 20, 2012 (a Wednesday evening) from 6:30 until 8:30. All are invited. This event will be held in the
Friary Room, our usual meeting place. It will be an opportunity to meet old friends, learn how the alums
got their jobs and how the unemployed and underemployed can learn from those alums. The group
looks forward to welcoming back the graduates of Transitions and hopes that all of our members will
soon become graduates. Put the date on your calendars. It is something not to be missed. On this
Wednesday, June 20, there will be no afternoon meeting.

demand. So, don’t forget to donate to your local food pantry!
A Blessing for Fathers
May God bless you and guide you in your very special role as a father.
May you cherish your children from birth to adulthood,
as unique and precious gifts from God.
May you always love and forgive them, as God loves and forgives you.
May you be quick to praise and slow to find fault,
And may you be wise in all of your decisions.
May God reward you abundantly for all your fatherly love and care.
And may God bless all our fathers who have gone to their rest.
May they find comfort and joy in the arms of their heavenly father.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
