Mrs. Manzano’s Othello Facebook Project
Each of you will be assigned a character to open a Facebook for. Imagine this character lives in modern times and create
his/her Facebook. You will also be placed in a group with other characters from the play whom you are required to
interact with. Make sure you take into account your character’s personality, background, and role when you are
creating his/her “profile”. This is essentially a characterization project, so you may use your characterization charts for
assistance.
EACH OF THE ITEMS BELOW IS A GRADE.

Profile (weighted double) ____________
o Profile picture (can be drawn or a picture you found online i.e.: celebrity, character, meme).
o Background picture (same as above)
o About: work, education, likes, birthday, relationship status, etc (think modern: where would Othello work
today? What movies would he like?)

Updates ______________
o Updates should be related to story line in some way.
o Minimum of 10 updates (on different days- up to 3 posts on any one day).

Posts by other characters _____________
o You must post in a minimum of 3 characters in your group.
o This is the part where you interact with other members of your group. I.e.: Maybe Desdemona wants to
say, “Love you, BAE!! :*” on Othello’s page.

Friends list ________________
o Who would Othello be friends with in modern times (apart from the cast of Othello)? Maybe other
military leaders? Politicians? Famous African Americans?
o Follow important figures that would be pertinent to your character.

Create a video that the character was likely to share (must be original) (weighted double). _____________
o You may have one video for all the characters in the group (however, it is not mandatory).
o Think of a vine, something funny, or an interview; this is your opportunity to get creative!!!
ALL ITEMS IN PROJECT MUST BE ACADEMIC AND ANY VIOLATIONS OR MISUSE OF SOCIAL
MEDIA RELATED WITH THIS PROJECT WILL RESULT IN SEVERE CONSEQUENCES AND LOSS OF
PRIVILEGES.
The project will be due the week of April 6th. You must return this form signed by a parent for a
PARTICIPATION GRADE. Any students who do not have this form signed will **NOT** be allowed to present
their projects and will forfeit 6 grades. Consider this your rubric and grade sheet.
