Week in Review
This week we learned all about being fair and treating
people equally. We learned about Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. and his dream for people to be treated equally. We
explored this idea by looking at M&Ms and discussing
how they are different on the outside but when you bite
into them they are the same.! We read a story called The
Color of Us and wrote in our journal what we were the
color of. Some of us said we were the color of toast, rice,
cereal, sand and more. We learned continued to learn
about addition and subtraction. We talked about how to
be a good friend to others and what it feels like when
someone is being a good friend to us.

Valentines Party and Cards
Our party is on February 12th. Parents are welcome, but not obligated
to attend.
Valentine cards are great way to practice name writing! Use this
experience to practice writing first or first and last names.
HOWEVER, PLEASE DO NOT ADDRESS VALENTINE CARDS TO
A SPECIFIC STUDENT, AS CARDS WILL BE PASSED OUT
DOWN A LINE IN ORDER TO TAKE LESS TIME AWAY FROM
OUR FUN PARTY! Again, please have children only sign their own
name. Also, it is easiest to pass out cards that are unisex. Valentine
bags will be made at school so there is no need to send one in.
THANK YOU for helping make this experience FUN and
EDUCATIONAL! There are 21 students in your child’s class
Things to Practice
Practice identifying rainbow words in the
newspaper. Use a highlighter to find them.

Sound out notes to people you love or Valentine
