Checklist for Service Learning Scrapbook You need to show evidence of each of these things in your scrapbook. Examples of evidence are included in parenthesis, but other things could be included as evidence as well. If an example is underlined, that means it must be included in the Scrapbook: I will research a need in my community or in the global community (something you found & printed off of the Internet, a letter you wrote to someone, an email) I will base my project around meeting that need. THIS IS NOT THE SAME THING AS VOLUNTEERING HOURS. (proposal) I will meet with my mentor for at least 3 hours to discuss my project and receive guidance, input, etc. I will be responsible for setting up these meetings and for being on time to all meetings. (timesheet) I will have my entire project completed by March 9th NO EXCEPTIONS (completed Scrapbook) I will write a proposal that explains my project in detail, including the need I have identified, how my project will benefit others, a timeline (so I don’t procrastinate), and how much I think the project will cost (and how I will raise the money if I need to raise money) (proposal) I will get my parent/guardian to read my proposal, sign it, and turn it in to Mrs. Montgomery by the end of 1st quarter (proposal) I will keep an accurate log of all the time I spend working on my project and I will keep it up to date (it should stay in your service learning folder along with all your service learning information). I will reflect each time I work on my project, rather than waiting until the end. (timesheet) I will take pictures of the work I do throughout the year, rather than taking a bunch of pictures at the end of my project. I will keep these in my service learning folder or in a safe place at home. (Pictures are included in the scrapbook). When I finish my project I will ask my mentor to fill out the evaluation letter included in service learning folder. (mentor evaluation form) I will complete a self-evaluation (self-evaluation form) I will create a newsletter, which details the work I did on my project and includes some of the pictures I took. Mrs. Montgomery will teach my class how to create a newsletter. (Color copy of newsletter is included in the scrapbook). I will complete a binder or scrapbook, which will include my honor code, proposal, log, pictures, evaluation, and newsletter pages (Scrapbook) Other things that should be included in the Scrapbook: Anything you made for your project, like flyers or announcement in your church bulletin or school announcements, as well as any correspondence you had via phone, e-mail, or mail with anyone about your project. Remember, the point of the Scrapbook is to “show off” everything you’ve done, so put as much as possible in it rather than as least as possible. For the presentation: I will give an informative speech that includes what I did for my service learning project, why I did it, my results (how much money I collected, how many items I collected, etc.), and what I learned. My speech will include a visual, such as a video or a PowerPoint, that enhances my presentation. I will dress up for my presentation. I will practice for my presentation and I will be prepared to present in class
