Culture Scrapbook Page Project Mrs. Edson Now that we have learned so much about culture in class, it is time for you to find out more about your culture. You must research your culture based on the characteristics discussed in class. You must narrow down your research to 4 of the 10 we learned in class. When your research is complete, your project is to create a 5-page scrapbook. Your scrapbook will be graded on the directions below and how well you show your true understanding of what makes up culture. Have fun celebrating your culture!! The following is the list of criteria for your page: 1. The project must be completed on paper no larger than copy paper or a page of scrapbook paper. 2. Label and decorate your scrapbook title page with your first name, last name, and the name of your culture. (ex. Indian, Polish, Russian, etc.) 3. Your book must be divided into 5 different pages, a title page, then one page for each of the four characteristics (ex. religion, food, clothing, etc.) a. Label each page with the characteristic it represents. b. Fill each page with pictures, items, and anything else, which best represent that characteristic of your culture. A minimum of 4 examples for each characteristic is required. c. Each page must also have explanations of your pictures and items and how they relate to your culture. You may write captions for your pictures to explain what they are representing. These explanations must be written in your own words. 4. Grammar and spelling are always important! Remember to revise and edit carefully. 5. Your scrapbook must be creative and colorful. Although scrapbooks are creative collages, your final product must look neat, thoughtfully planned, and organized. Please read and discuss with your child the directions for the culture scrapbook assignment, due on Monday 29, 2008. Research will begin in school, however, more that to be done at home. Please assist your child in planning effectively. Student Name ____________________________ Parent Signature __________________________
