This limits adjunct faculty to less than 7.5 credit hours of instruction in a regular 16-week semester. This issue may cause major problems with enrollment and number of adjunct faculty required to meet teaching needs. Rodger is waiting for a grid. Terminology must be clarified. Rodger reported that spring break 2014 will be March 10-14 to keep us in line with the public school calendars. Fall Registration for Fri/Sat/Sun This issue came up at VP Council. Possibility students may be penalized because registration closes week before classes begin on August 26 but are closed for Labor Day weekend. Rodger suggested flexing classes so students can register after Labor Day for F/S/U classes that begin Sept 6. Students could register on August 26 for these classes. Twelve Agreement of Collin/UTD Integrated Pathways Rodger asked the deans to please share the information he sent with the faculty. Rodger illustrated how he would like the BHC model to be. He asked the group to please let him know what errors they find and what questions they may have. If in place by fall, the model will be on the website and also on the UTD website. He is looking at UTA, UNT and SMU possibilities. Software and Hardware Purchases Michael Deason distributed a copy of the IT Department 23013 Update. Some of the highlights: All computer labs will have the same equipment in rooms. No dual computers – either desk top or lap tops Don’t rely in Wi-Fi to replace a wired lab. If purchasing software have one of the techs at meeting. The techs know what will or will not work. The $40 allowance for college own iPads. Michael asked if new software is required please allow two weeks for installation. Please be sure all colleague forms contain all signatures and sent to Michael’s office. Do not send to district. Michael will forward to district. Michael went on to report on the Adobe Master Collection plan. This item is also outlined in the packet he distributed. Cost would be $52 per license for master collection. The contract is based on full time employees. This is a three year contract that will begin year 2 in September 2013. If Brookhaven agrees to purchase, Adobe will prorate until September and the program can be installed immediately. It can also be installed on home computer while the license agreement is active. It may be possible to apply some Perkins monies to this purchase. Rodger the group to vote on purchasing this equipment. Ayes won. The group agreed to have the software as soon as possible. Michael distributed a copy of the lab upgrade schedule as of March 27 2013. S086 and K137 highest priority for replacement. Will be working with Marilyn on which labs are Perkins funded. Faculty upgrades are up to the deans. Visiting Scholars Juanita brought up a question on hiring additional visiting scholars. Every college will have 12 visiting scholar positions. There was a discussion on how to view the visiting scholar position and the financial implications. Rodger will discuss with Thom Chesney. Other Anna Masters asked the group to thank their faculty for their participation in the reading assessment project. She is in the process of scoring and will present the results in the next few weeks. She distributed the new Reading: App for Life lanyards. Rodger presented the thought for the day.
