Purpose Statement:
In our class we…

Required Daily Supplies:
 Separate binder for English class with four tabs labeled: Bell-Ringer, Notes/Handouts,
Homework/Quizzes, and Writing.
 Necessary work supplies (paper, planner, and pen or pencil)
Grades:
 Participation (daily score):
o Based on discussion, preparation, attentiveness, and focus.
 Homework (daily score):
o Based on reading assignments, taking notes in class, writing, and/or answering questions.
 In-Class Assignments (daily scores):
o Writing, discussion, group work, and/or reading/responding. This also includes reading
and vocabulary quizzes, which can be cumulative and/or unannounced.
 Summative Assignments (occasional scores):
o Include unit tests, vocabulary tests, essays, research papers, & class projects. These are
60% of the course grade.
Tutoring/Assistance:
I am available for tutoring, assistance, and to answer any of your questions. On A days I am available 1st
block and B days 4th block. If you notice that you need help, please come talk to me sooner rather than
later.
