Youth Opportunities Unlimited Job Posting: Director of Finance Youth Opportunities Unlimited is seeking qualified applicants with accounting and financial management leadership expertise to take on this senior role within the agency. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination of financial planning, asset management, and budget management functions. The candidate will oversee the Finance Department and will ensure that the agency complies with all reporting requirements related to finance and accounting. This position reports to the Executive Director and is part of the senior management team. The position will work closely with other members of the team to prepare project budgets, provide cost analysis in preparation for budget negotiations, and monitor project and departmental financial performance against budget. This position works closely with the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee and the agency’s external audit firm. We are seeking candidates who match our corporate values. Qualifications: Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations, finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles within non-profit, charitable organizations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Expertise with short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis. Work requires professional written and verbal communication as well as superior interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality results within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Formal accounting training and experience through an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position. Willingness to work a flexible schedule at times is required. Proven ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders; within and external to the organization. Previous experience with non-profit organizations and working knowledge of not-for-profit accounting protocols and CRA charitable reporting requirements. Excellent presentation skills. Computer skills including proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, internet and database management. Proficiency with AccPac /Sage ERP 300 is preferred.
