Provide advice to the Australian Government on its trade, tourism and investment policy agenda.

Develop policy, manage programs and provide research to strengthen Australia's tourism industry and to
grow Australia's tourism market share.
•
Deliver Australian consular, passport and other government services in designated overseas locations.
•
Manage the Building Brand Australia program to enhance awareness of contemporary Australian skills and
capability and enrich Australia's global reputation.

Marketing Manager, Latin America
For this role we seek a highly motivated and experienced professional to (1) lead the promotion and
strategic communication of Australian industry capability to Latin American executives, influencers
and the media and (2) articulate the importance of the Latin America region, in the context of its trade,
education and investment relationship with Australia.
The position is based in the Austrade office located in the Embassy of Australia in Santiago. The
successful candidate will promote Australian capability in Latin America. They will manage competing
project timeframes and demands from stakeholders, with minimal supervision. The individual will
possess significant experience in leading and coordinating marketing and communication activities
across a region, building a coherent narrative, but also responding to specific market interests.
Strategy & Program Development

Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan (for the region and
each market) that pursues broad long-term objectives with a defined set of programs, in
consultation with the Marketing Manager, Growth and Emerging Markets Sydney and Trade
Commissioners in Latin America

Identify ways to measure the effectiveness of marketing activities for Latin America, including
identifying key performance indicators, measurement tools and benchmarks
Program Execution

Generate innovative ideas, develop project plans, manage budgets and timelines, and prioritise
critical programs and elements necessary to achieve objectives.

As per marketing plan, manage marketing activity for events in Latin America including direct
marketing, branding, promotion and collateral production

Initiate and coordinate content creation to promote Australian capability to a Latin American
audience and Latin American opportunities to an Australian audience

Identify communications channels including local media, key partners and stakeholders (such as
federal and State governments and Chambers of Commerce)

Work with Business Development Managers and other subject matter experts to create content
for distribution via targeted communication channels

Manage Latin American social media accounts and Austrade’s local language websites and
contribute to other online platforms such as austrade.gov.au, studyinaustralia.gov.au and
australiaunlimited.com

Utilise internal databases and CRM systems to support work practices

Regional co-ordination

Lead consultation and ideas generation across the region in the delivery of pan-regional and
market specific campaigns

Advise Austrade staff across Latin America on best practice and help build capacity within the
network for posts to undertake marketing and communications work

Convene regular annual marketing and communication planning sessions with Trade
Commissioners in each region

Work effectively with staff at Post and with a virtual team across Latin America and Australia,
including regular communication with Latin American Trade Commissioners and Marketing
Manager, Growth and Emerging Markets
Management of service providers

Identify and manage local designers, printers and agencies to deliver the marketing and
communications strategy across 6 focus countries (Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia
and Peru)

Effectively manage invoicing of third party service providers as required
Approach to work

Work collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery and achieve
desired outcomes, while upholding the Australian Public Service Values, Employment Principles
and Code of Conduct and Work Health & Safety (WHS) principles

Assessment
Selection Criteria
The selection criteria highlight the essential components (skills, experience and qualities) that are required to perform
in the role effectively.

Selection
Criteria:
1. Demonstrated experience and record of achievement in developing and delivering integrated
marketing and communication strategies (minimum 5 years’ experience in an equivalent role),
including the ability to translate business plans into marketing strategies.
2. Demonstrated marketing skills and experience across a range of channels including digital and
online, traditional and social media, collateral development and production, video, advertising,
sponsorship and events.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, including record of success in stakeholder management and working
with virtual teams, preferably in a multinational organisation.
4. Professional project management skills and the drive and discipline to ensure competing
deadlines are met on time.
5. Experience in briefing and managing suppliers within tight budgets and deadlines.
6. Superior written and verbal communications skills in English and Spanish.



An understanding of both Latin American and Australian business cultures
Written and verbal communications skills in Portuguese
Professional qualifications in communications, marketing or other relevant speciality
Assessment
Applications will be assessed by a Selection Panel following the establishment of a shortlist for interview. Once

Employment Terms
These are locally-engaged positions governed by Austrade’s Overseas Engaged Employees terms and
conditions and Chilean labour laws.
Ongoing employment with Austrade will be offered for these positions.
Salary
This position is at Austrade Overseas Performance Level (AOPL) 4.
AOPL4 Commencement salary is 50,286,849 CLP gross per annum.
Salary advancement to AOPL4 Standard Salary level (52,933,525 CLP gross per annum) can be approved
after six months of service, subject to a positive performance appraisal.
Mandatory Requirements:

Education:
- Minimum Bachelor level relevant tertiary qualification (for example but not limited to
International Business/Economics/Marketing or industry-related disciplines).

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and delivering integrated marketing and
communication strategies or a similar role.

Language Proficiency:
- Applicants must be fluent both in written and spoken Spanish and English. Shortlisted
applicants may be first tested by telephone prior to Austrade committing to interview.

Residency and Work Permit:
- Applicants must have work authorization in Chile.
