Internship Description
Altru Health System is seeking an unpaid* Business Development Intern to join the Primary Care
Administration team for Spring/Summer 2014! The intern can expect a unique hands-on learning
experience to develop key skills and learn the roles and functions of a Business Development professional
in the Healthcare industry. The Intern will assist in the development and implementation of a business
development strategy for the Primary Care Division at Altru Health System with the goal of increasing
patient encounters.
Student Learning Objectives





Prepare and implement a business development plan.
Research and train staff on effective sales techniques and recommend changes to the process.
Identify target consumers and create a database to track them.
Develop community partnerships with goal to increase patient encounters.
Build digital awareness through online marketing, social media, leads in online forums, etc…
Internship Requirements





Student in a four year Bachelor’s university degree program, (Preferred Master’s degree program) in
Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Marketing,
Communications, or a related field.
Experience with developing business development plans/strategy.
Exhibits excellent organization skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to
proactively identify, coordinate and apply resources appropriately.
Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills, the ability to be outwardly engaging, approachable,
flexible, confident and enthusiastic personality, and the ability to motivate people.
Willing to work 15-20 hours per week in an office setting at Altru Health System’s main campus.
