Clinics
A clinic is a facility that is responsible for primary and specialty care services on outpatient or visit basis. Patients visit a clinic for
a routine, scheduled appointment. Two
types of clinics include primary care and specialty
care. Primary care clinics serve a need for basic and
preventive care. Specialty care clinics serve a need
for care that is beyond primary care and needs a
medical professional experienced in a focus area.
Hospitals
H
A hospital is a facility responsible for medical care beyond the level of a clinic visit. A
hospital can provide short- and long-term
hospitalizations, general and/or specialty
surgical services, X-ray or radiology services, laboratory services, and emergency room services.
Altru Cancer Center
The Altru Cancer Center provides a wide range of
treatments for many types of cancer, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Altru Family Medicine Center
The Family Medicine Center at Altru provides health
services to all ages from infant to elderly. The Altru
Pharmacy, where prescriptions for medication can be
picked up, is located in this building.
Altru Hospital
Dental
A dental clinic is a facility that is responsible for the routine care of teeth through
basic preventive care. Dental clinics can
also treat problems related to teeth in addition to basic preventive care by procedures such
as fillings and extractions.
Altru Hospital is the main building at Altru. Emergency/
Urgent Care Medicine is located here. This is also where
overnight patients will stay.
Altru Main Clinic
The Altru Main Clinic is the location of most of the specialists on the Altru Campus. Services from allergen testing to urology are located in this building.
Altru Rehabilitation Center
Physical medicine services are located in the Altru
Rehabilitation Center. Services such as athletic/sports
medicine, and various therapy programs are located
here.
Public Health
Public health is a collaborative effort to
improve the health of a community as a
whole. Public health provides a range of
services including vaccinations, environmental health, epidemiology, and maternal and
child health.
