It is a field engineering role where you will be out and about installing and maintaining monitoring equipment, finding practical solutions to performance issues. They develop, sell and maintain a range of instrumentation in areas like emissions, telemetry, air and water monitoring. This is an industry that is experiencing high demand and rapid growth. You will join a team of six engineers responsible for installing and maintaining environmental monitoring instrumentation. This is a hands-on engineering role, solving technical or complex problems in the field. Typical activities include: Reviewing and understanding new and complex products and specs Making field visits to sites across the UK to address issues (this can be anywhere from down a sewer to up a stack) Overnight stopovers, early morning, evening and weekend work may sometimes be required in order to access certain sites Diagnosing and resolving performance or technical issues Finding creative solutions to local site issues and technical problems Bringing more complex cases back to base for further research and resolution Reporting Working with the business development team to respond to customers Working out how to produce new monitoring solutions for customers Drawing up specs for new products and programmes Supporting and providing advice to colleagues or customers remotely via phone, email and remote access infrastructure In the first instance this role is all about getting to understand the wide range of products and technology within the portfolio and gaining real field experience of installation and maintenance. Once you have a good grounding in this area there is huge potential for you to learn and progress into other areas. What type of person are they looking for? The successful candidate for this role will: Have an Electronic, Electrical or Automatic Control and Systems Engineering degree Be great at solving problems and finding practical solutions to problems Be able to get along well with others and join an established team Be bright and able to pick up new things quickly Have good verbal communications skills, able to talk to a wide range of customers and colleagues at all levels Be quietly confident and ambitious for the future Be down to earth and easy to get along with Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude Be physically fit and mobile enough to access a variety of sites Possess a full driving licence or be prepared to learn to drive very quickly Have a knowledge of pics, micros and programming such as C++ or CNT Be willing to travel, work flexibly outside of the core office hours and stay away overnight as required What are all the practical details?
