Orientation Internship

Office of Student Activities, Involvement & Leadership (S.A.I.L.)

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

The S.A.I.L. Office is looking for up to two (2) undergraduate student interns for the Spring and Summer of

2015. The Orientation Intern will gain insight into the planning and coordination of New

Student/Transfer/International Orientation, including: event planning, student involvement, Orientation

Leader recruitment and training, creation of the Orientation schedule, cross-campus collaborations, scheduling, and more. The Orientation Intern will be required to work a minimum of 5 hours per week during the spring semester and a minimum of 10 hours per week during the summer, some of which may include late evening and weekend responsibilities, especially as Orientation approaches.

The Orientation Intern will be directly supervised by the Director of Student Activities, Involvement &

Leadership (S.A.I.L.) but will work very closely with both Assistant Directors throughout the experience.

Besides the general requirements for the position, they will each set specific internship goals in order to best facilitate their professional development and learning throughout the experience.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 Must be a full-time student in an undergraduate program throughout the length of the experience.

 Demonstrated successful experiences working with peers in a past/current supervisory or leadership role.

Previous experience working with an Orientation program is strongly encouraged, but not required.

Possess a positive attitude and sense of initiative.

Possess an appreciation for autonomy as well as team work.

The ability to be flexible while working in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated responsibility and positive work ethic.

Applicants must be available the entire duration of Orientation training, as well as the weekend of Orientation

(September 3-7, 2015).

This internship is a paid position ($10.00/hour).
