DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY Food Technology - making pizzas, deli salad etc. Product Design - pupils will make a laser cut door sign and Wonka Bar. Resistant Materials-pupils will make a wooden sweet machine. Textiles - How to use the sewing machine and make Textile products. SCIENCE Induction - working safely and scientifically. Cells and Body systems, Particles and Separation techniques MATHS Investigative tasks, with a focus on planning and logical thinking. Number skills and manipulation - strategies for mental calculations and written calculation including positive and negative integers as well as decimals. Proportion Fraction, decimals and percentages as part of a whole along with proportional reasoning. PE (CORE) Students will acquire skills in a range of sports: Rugby, Football, Netball, Handball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Gymnastics, Dance, Swimming and Hockey. ART Students will be exploring a variety of sculpture techniques. Developing an understanding of 3D form through a series of workshops/outcomes. Demonstrate their understanding of additive and subtractive sculpture, studying classical pieces/contemporary techniques. Drawing is the basis of all topics. Focus this term will be on recording, collecting and selecting. MUSIC Singing: Exploring vocal performance techniques Gamelan: Introduction to world music, using the music of Indonesia to develop basic keyboard skills HISTORY Migration - Beginning with Romans onto present day. Pupils will study a wide range of people who have moved to Britain. Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans, the Jews (Middle Ages), black people in Tudor times, the Irish and post WW2 immigration (Caribbean). Students will aim to develop a strong chronological framework and a greater understanding of ‘story’ of Britain and British people. Documents and PowerPoints are available from RE Dept. French Drama & Spelling Bee - lunchtimes Science Club - restricted to a limited number of students (after school) After every Maths assessment students are required to highlight 2 mathematical areas of weakness and produce a corrected response to ensure that their unsecured learning has been addressed. Involvement in extracurricular clubs in and outside of school will help develop student’s practical ability. To help enrich your child’s educational/cultural experience, we encourage trips to the museums, galleries etc. History homework is based on two projects.
