We have a class set, but the book can also be accessed online. Any assignments from the book will also be listed on my website for easy access. For students, the login information is: Username = S+ID@garlandisd.net (ex: S123455@garlandisd.net) Password = network password (aka NPIN) Rules 1. Be prepared. This means coming to class on time with a pencil, the required notes for the day, the homework from the previous class, or other materials commonly used in class. 2. Be respectful. All students are expected to treat each other with respect by not doing anything to inhibit another student’s learning. Students are also expected to give their attention by listening attentively and keeping cell phones put away anytime that I am teaching. 3. Participate! I ask a lot of questions during class and participation always helps to improve the learning process for the student who is speaking as well as others around them. Commit to Integrity As a student in this course (and at this school) you are expected to maintain high degrees of professionalism, commitment to active learning and participation in this class and also integrity in your behavior in and out of the classroom. Page 1 Algebra 2 Mr. Cooper Grading Grading in this class will be broken down into the following categories Homework* (assignments from the book, online homework submissions) Classwork (in class activities, reviews, and worksheets) Quizzes Tests % of grade 10 15 25 50 *Homework will be graded on a scale of 0-5 based on completion and work shown. Homework can also be collected and 5 select problems can be chosen and graded by correctness on a 0-5 scale. One homework grade in Skyward may consist of multiple homework assignments for the week combined in one grade. Absences Make-up work for both excused and unexcused absences must be completed using the following formula: *One class missed* - One class for makeup work – next class – assignment due. Example: Student is absent on Monday and misses A1. He/she returns Tuesday but does not attend A1 until Wednesday. Wednesday, he/she receives the make-up assignment, and it is due on A1 on Friday. If a student misses more than one class period, the teacher should confer with the student upon his/her return to set a reasonable deadline for make-up work. Late Work Late work will be accepted in class or through email with a 10% per class penalty up to a 30% penalty. If daily work or notes are missed, they will be placed in the students’ folder for them to be collected upon their return. Students also have access to resources online with video tutorials, extra examples, and certain answer keys. These can be accessed at home and are very useful tools for learning about what was missed in class. Page 2
