Tea Biscuits Makes 12 biscuits About 30 minutes to prepare and cook This recipe was adapted from the Baker Lake Prenatal Nutrition Project’s Qamanituaq Cooks! cookbook. Ingredients 2 cups 1 3 flour oil cup (or melted margarine) Kitchen Supplies Mixing bowl ¼ cup skim milk powder 23 cup water Wooden spoon Measuring spoons Measuring cups 4 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt Additional Drinking glass (or plastic cup) flour for kneading Baking sheet 23 cup cheddar cheese, grated (optional) This resource was created with financial contributions from Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Steps 1 Preheat oven to 450°F. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, skim milk powder, baking powder, and salt. If using, add cheese. Stir well. 2 Pour oil and water into the middle of the dry ingredients. 3 Stir gently until the ingredients stick together. 4 Remove dough from bowl. Place it on surface with flour. Lightly knead dough once or twice. 5 Pat dough flat, about ½ inch thick. 6 Cut out biscuits with a drinking glass. 8 Bake biscuits for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned. 7 Reshape dough as needed. Put biscuits on baking sheet. Enjoy!
