Thank you to all of the mothers for making the time to come to our Mother’s Day
Celebration. The children really enjoyed spending time with you and sharing their special
writing. The children also really seemed to enjoy baking! In addition to being a fun activity,
we used our reading, science and math skills. Some of the children had mentioned wanting
the recipe, so here it is. Enjoy!
Sweet Muffin Recipe
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup softened butter
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
½ cup milk
*We also added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon!
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine the flour,
baking powder and salt. Cream the butter and sugar.
Add the eggs, one at a time. Add the dry ingredients
and milk, alternately, beginning and ending with the
dry. Pour into 1 dozen cupcake liners and bake at 375
degrees for 20-25 minutes.
*We sprinkled them with a cinnamon-sugar mixture before baking!
The final Dibels screening of the year will take place next week. Once the scores have been
computed, I will review the data. I will contact you only if I need to share a new concern.
The primary grades have been invited to Penncrest High School for a
Children’s Theater production on May 30th. Although we will not require
parent chaperones for this trip, I will need a signed permission slip. Please
send this in as soon as possible.

Reminders:
 Monday is Day 4: Music/Share will be Kira and Mark (Themed Share Cycle:
Bring in something you found in nature.)
 Please remember to allow your child the opportunity to make any needed
corrections or completions on papers that go home. Usually we do this in school,
but this is not always feasible. Most children are already doing this, but we would like the
second graders to try to read 2 steps as many nights as possible. Keep practicing those math
facts!! 
