Homework: Children should read for at least 20 minutes a day & complete journal tasks. Spelling – weekly spellings list and writing task set on Monday to be handed in on Friday. Reading aloud to your child remains an important activity. The bookmarks in your child’s reading record book have lots of handy question prompts. MATHS SCIENCE Science 1) Light – light sources, how light travels, shadows, reflection. 2) Electricity – safety aspects, basic circuitry and adaptation of circuits to increase/decrease power, circuit diagrams, application of knowledge within a game. 3) Forces – Gravity and weight, air and water resistance, forces acting on objects YEAR 6 AUTUMN TERM Number: place value & ordering numbers including fractions, decimals and percentages. Taped mental mathematics exercises. Measures, shape & space: standard metric units, properties of shapes, measuring and drawing angles, co-ordinates.
