ATTENDANCE
Regular and punctual school attendance is essential for the
student to make the most of his/her education. To receive
credit for the school year, a student must attend at least 90
percent of the 177 instructional days. A student who
attends fewer than 161 days cannot receive credit for the
year unless the attendance committee finds that the
absences are the result of extenuating circumstances.
*When a student is absent, a written note from the parent
or guardian must always be sent to school within 2 school
days. An absence automatically becomes unexcused if a
note is not received. An excused absence is based on
personal sickness, or death in the family, quarantine,
weather, or road conditions making travel dangerous.
The Perryton Kinder professional team is committed to
providing an exceptional Early Childhood program that
promotes the development of children’s cognitive and
language skills. Our students will be prepared to meet
demanding educational standards with your help.

CAFETERIA SERVICES
Breakfast is served from 7:30-8:00 a.m. and lunch time
varies by grade. Please pay for your child’s meal daily,
weekly, or monthly. The cafeteria staff will take meal
money before school each day. CHARGING MEALS is for
emergencies only. If a child has charges over $20.00, it will
be necessary for the child to bring lunch from home, go
home with a parent for lunch, or have an alternate meal.
Breakfast will cost $1.50 and lunch $1.90 per student.
PHILOSOPHY
We believe that the early years set the stage for student
success. When home, school, and community bond
together, our children are better able to make good choices
for successful futures.
We know that early childhood experiences shape the adult.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide an environment that is loving,
safe, and instructionally strong so that all students can
grow mentally and socially for a successful academic
future.
Perryton ISD offers free and reduced-price breakfasts and
lunches to eligible students. Application forms are available
in the school office. Students who were eligible last year
must fill out a NEW application within the first month of
school. Questions concerning eligibility should be directed
to Cynthia Andreas at 435-5478, ext.230. Parents and
family members are always welcome to join us for lunch.
Visitor lunches are $3.50.
PERRYTON ISD does not discriminate on the basis of

providing educational services, activities, and programs,
including the vocational programs, in accordance with Title
VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of
the Educational Amendments of 1972; Section 504 of the

Americans with Disabilities Act. PERRYTON ISD will take
steps to assure that lack of English language skills will not
be a barrier to admission and participation in all
educational programs.
RETURNED CHECKS
Personal checks will be accepted but a $15.00 fee will be
charged for all returned checks.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASES/CONDITIONS
Parents of a student with a communicable or contagious
disease should phone the school nurse or principal so that
other students who have been exposed to the disease can
be alerted. Some of the most common of these diseases
are: chicken pox, head lice, impetigo, pinkeye, and
ringworm of the scalp.
ASBESTOS
Perryton ISD is working hard to maintain compliance with
federal and state regulations concerning asbestos. A copy
of the plan is available in the principal’s office as well as
the school’s central administration office. If you have any
questions about the plan or this federally mandated
program, please contact the school administration office at
435-5478.

COUNSELING
The school counselor’s role is to help our children feel
happy, healthy, and safe at school and home. Individual or
group counseling and classroom guidance are provided for
our students. Students may be referred for counseling by
parents or guardians, family members, school personnel,
or themselves.

MEDICATION
1. Medications need to be sent in the original containers.
Parents often send medicines in plastic baggies, unlabeled
bottles, etc. 2. Parents need to keep enough medicine at
home in case the student forgets to bring the medicine
home. It is the child’s or parent’s responsibility to pick up
the medicine in the afternoon. 3. Notes with date(s) the
medicine is to be given, the dosage, and the time of day
must be sent with the medication. The note must have a
parental signature. This is a state law, and no medication
will be given without written parental permission. PLEASE
READ THE SEPARATE NOTE GIVEN DURING
ENROLLMENT STATING OUR MEDICATION POLICY.
DRESS AND GROOMING
The district’s dress code is established to teach grooming
and hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid
safety hazards, and teach respect for authority. To be
consistent with the PISD hair codes, boys hair will need to
be cut above the shirt collar, above the eyes, and above
the bottom of the ears. Mohawks which are defined as a
hairstyle in which the head is shaved bare except for a strip
of hair, down the center of the scalp from the forehead to
the nape of the neck will not be allowed. No extreme dye
colors or hair paint will be allowed. Boys are not allowed to
wear earrings. Teachers have asked that no temporary
tattoos be on students bodies due to the distraction of the
class. Teachers will have the students wash them off when
they arrive at school. Judgment concerning compliance
with grooming requirements and modes of dress not
specifically mentioned in the Code of Conduct will be made
by the school administrator. Students may wear shorts in
August, September, April, and May. Flip-flops and thong
shoes are dangerous due to the physical activities and
should not be worn. Shirts that expose the stomach or
chest area are not acceptable. Please refer to the PISD
Discipline Management Plan and the Student Code of
Conduct Handbook for additional information.
PESTICIDES
The school occasionally applies pesticides. Information
concerning these applications may be obtained from Allan
Kemp (435-5478). A copy of the law can be obtained upon
request in the Perryton Kinder office. Texas Pest Control
Act 135b-6.
REPORT CARDS
Students in Pre-K receive progress reports every twelve
weeks. Kindergarten students receive report cards each
nine weeks.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT
The district encourages parental and student support in its
efforts to address and prevent sexual harassment and
sexual abuse in the public schools. Students and/or
parents are encouraged to discuss their questions or
concerns about the expectations in this area with a
teacher, counselor, principal, or Keith Langfitt, who serves
as the District Title IX coordinator for students.
DISCIPLINE
Please read and sign the PISD Discipline Management
Plan and Student Code of Conduct Handbook when you
register.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT
Parents are asked each year to complete an emergency
care consent form. PARENTS SHOULD KEEP
EMERGENCY CARE INFORMATION UP-TO-DATE (name
of doctor, emergency phone numbers, allergies to
medications, etc.). Please contact the school office or the
child’s teacher to update any information. (Form notes are
given during enrollment and are available in the office.)
CAMPUS EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE
Texas State House Bill 2885 requires all school districts to
have a district and campus site-based decision making
committee. The Perryton Kinder Committee makes
decisions concerning campus goals, budget, and
evaluation of student performance as it relates to
instructional decisions, the selection of staff, curriculum
revisions, and instructional methods.
HEALTH SERVICES AND ILLNESSES
For the protection of all students, the following rules have
been established and will be followed at all times. A

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
The district provides special programs for gifted and
talented students, bilingual students, migrant students,
students with limited English proficiency, students with
dyslexia, and students with disabilities. The coordinator of
each program can answer questions about eligibility
requirements, as well as programs and services offered in
the district or by other organizations. A student or parent
with questions about these programs should contact the
principal or Keith Langfitt, Director of Special Programs for
PISD.
VISITORS AT SCHOOL
Parents and other interested citizens are invited to the
school to observe instructional programs and/or other
school related activities. For the safety of our students, all
visitors must first report to the school office for a visitor’s
pass.
DISABLED STUDENTS
(SECTION 504 REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973)
Perryton Independent School District strives to provide a
free, appropriate, public education for all students.
Pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973,
IDEA and the Texas State Board of Education Rules, PISD
does not discriminate on the basis of handicap. Parents
and students seeking services under these programs
should contact the district’s designated contact person,
Keith Langfitt, 504 Coordinator, Perryton ISD
Administration Office, (806) 435-5478.
SPEECH/LANGUAGE INTERVENTION PROGRAM
The Speech/Language program provides therapy for those
children identified as having a communication disorder.
Communication disorders include articulation, language, or
fluency. Children are referred by their classroom teacher or
parent to the Speech/Language Pathologist for evaluation.
If they meet placement criteria, a child can only be placed
in this program with the parent’s knowledge and consent.
FIELD TRIPS
Field trips are taken during the school year. Students are
required to have a signed parental permission form in order
to participate.
STUDENT RECORDS
A student’s school records are confidential and are
protected from unauthorized inspection or use. A
cumulative record is maintained for each student from the
time the student enters the Perryton ISD until the student
withdraws or graduates. This record moves with the
student from school to school. Parents have access to the
records of their child. By law, both parents, whether
married, separated, or divorced, have access to the
records of a student who is under 18 or a dependent for tax
purposes. A parent whose rights have been legally
terminated will be denied access to the records if the
school is given a copy of the court order terminating these
rights. Special Education records will be destroyed seven
(7) years after cessation of services.
MOVING OR WITHDRAWING
When a student is going to withdraw or move out of town,
please notify the office as soon as possible so that the
proper records can be processed. Official school records
will be sent by mail to the student’s new school.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical activity is essential to the child’s complete
development. Physical fitness goes hand in hand with
mental fitness. We need a signed written statement from
the parent to excuse a pupil from physical exercises.
PROTECTION OF STUDENT RIGHTS UNDER 20 U.S.C.
1232H
Parents have the right to inspect all instructional materials,
including teacher’s manuals, films, tapes, or other
supplementary material, that will be used in connection
with any survey, analysis, or evaluation as part of any
program funded in whole or in part by the U.S. Department
of Education. Please contact your child’s principal if you
desire an appointment to review such materials.
TITLE 1 – SCHOOL-WIDE PROGRAM
“No Child Left Behind Act”
Perryton Kinder receives funding from the Federal
Government to make sure all Perryton Kinder students
attain the Texas student performance standards. Perryton
Kinder currently engages in reform strategies to increase
the amount and quality of learning time.
TOYS
Toys should not be brought to school. Exceptions to this
rule occur only if a teacher should request such items in
connection with a special unit of study.

ASISTENCIA A CLASE
El asistir a la escuela regular y puntualmente es esencial
para que el estudiante pueda sacar el mayor provecho de
su educación. Para recibir crédito por el año escolar, el
estudiante debe asistir por lo menos el 90 por ciento de los
177 días de clase. Si un estudiante asiste menos de 161
días no puede recibir crédito por el año al menos que el
comité de asistencia determine que las faltas son resultado
de circunstancias especiales. *Cuando un estudiante falta
a clases, los padres deben mandar una nota escrita dentro
de 2 días escolares después de la falta. Una falta es
automáticamente inexcusada si no manda una nota. Una

firma de los padres. Esta es una ley estatal y el
medicamento no se le puede dar al niño sin el permiso

Desordenes de comunicación incluyen la articulación,
lenguaje, y la fluidez del lenguaje. Los niños son referidos
a la especialista del lenguaje por la maestra del niño o por
el padre para ser evaluados. Si llena el criterio, el niño solo
podrá entrar al programa con el conocimiento y permiso
del padre.
PESTICIDAS
Esta escuela aplica pesticidas ocasionalmente.

ARCHIVOS ESTUDIANTILES
Los archivos estudiantiles so confidenciales y son
protegidos de inspección o uso sin autorización. Un
expediente cumulativo es mantenido para cada estudiante
desde que entra al distrito escolar de Perryton hasta que el
estudiante se muda o se gradúa. Los expedientes se
mueven con el estudiante de una escuela a otra. Los
padres tienen acceso al expediente de su hijo. Por ley, los
dos padres, casados, separados, o divorciados, tienen
acceso al expediente de un niño que tanga menos de 18
años de edad o de un dependiente para uso de los
impuestos. A un padre cuyos derechos hayan sido
terminados legalmente, se le negará el acceso al
expediente de un niño si una copia de la orden del término
de derechos es entregada a la escuela. Expedientes de
educación especial serán destruidos siete (7) años
después del término de los servicios.
BOLETAS Y REPORTES DE PROGRESO
Estudiantes en pre-kinder recibirán un reporte de progreso
cada doce semanas. Estudiantes en kinder recibirán su
boleta cada nueve semanas.
ACOSAMIENTO SEXUAL
El distrito anima al apoyo de los padres y estudiantes para
el esfuerzo de dirigir y prevenir molestias sexuales y abuso
sexual entre la escuela pública. Los estudiantes y los
padres son animados a exponer sus preguntas o
preocupaciones sobre las expectativas en esta área con
los maestros, la consejera, el director, o Keith Langfitt, el
coordinador de Título IX del Distrito para los estudiantes.
ENFERMEDADES Y CONDICIONES CONTAGIOSAS
Padres de estudiantes con enfermedades/condiciones
contagiosas deben comunicarse con la enfermera o el
director para que otros estudiantes que hallan sido
expuestos a la enfermedad puedan ser alertados.
COMITE ESCOLAR PARA EL MEJORAMIENTO
ESCOLAR
La Ley de Texas 2885 requiere que cada distrito escolar
tenga un comité que represente al distrito y a cada escuela
sobre el mejoramiento escolar. El Comité de Perryton
Kinder toma decisiones sobre las metas de la escuela,
presupuestos, la evaluación sobre el desarrollo de los
estudiantes en el aprendizaje, selección de personal,
revisiones de currículo, y métodos de instrucción.
CONSEJERIA
El papel del consejero es de ayudar a nuestros niños a
sentirse contentos, sanos, y seguros en la escuela y en
casa. Sesiones individuales, en grupo, y en el salón son
ofrecidas a los estudiantes. Los estudiantes pueden ser
referidos para los servicios de consejería por los padres,
familiares, personal de la escuela, o por el niño mismo.
PROGRAMAS ESPECIALES
El distrito tiene programas especiales para estudiantes
bilingües, emigrantes, con destrezas de inglés limitadas,
de don y talento, dislexia, y estudiantes con incapacidades.
El coordinador de cada programa puede contestar
preguntas que tenga sobre los requisitos para calificar y
también sobre programas y servicios que ofrecen el distrito
y otras organizaciones. Un estudiante o padre que tenga
preguntas sobre estos programas debe comunicarse con
el director o con Keith Langfitt, el director de programas
especiales.
ROPA Y CUIDADO PERSONAL
El Código de Vestir del distrito ha sido establecido para
enseñar higiene y cuidado personal, para instalar
disciplina, prevenir interrupciones, evitar riesgos a la
seguridad, y enseñar respeto a la autoridad. Para ser
consistente con los códigos de PISD sobre el pelo,
necesitará que el pelo de los barones esté cortado por
encima del cuello de la camisa, por encima de los ojos, y
por encima de la parte inferior de las orejas. Mohawks se
definen como afeitar el pelo, pero dejando una línea de
pelo por el centro de la cabeza, desde la frente hasta la
nuca de la cabeza, no serán permitirías. No se permiten
colores de tinte o pintura extremos del pelo. Los barones

que los estudiantes no vengan con tatuajes temporales

cumplimiento con los requisitos y modos de vestir no
mencionados en El Código de Conducta serán tomadas
por la administración escolar. Los estudiantes pueden usar
shorts en agosto, septiembre, abril, y mayo. Los guaraches
son peligrosos por las actividades físicas que se hacen
durante el día, y no se deben usar en la escuela. Camisas
que exponen el estomago o el pecho no son aceptables.

Conducta Estudiantil al registrarse.
VISITANTES A LA ESCUELA
Los padres y otros residentes interesados son invitados a
la escuela para observar los programas académicos y
otras actividades relacionadas a la escuela. Para la
seguridad de nuestros
Estudiantes, cada visitante debe primero reportarse a la
oficina de la escuela para recoger un pase de visitante.
ESTUDIANTES INCAPACITADOS
(SECCION 504 DE LA ACTA DE REHABILITACION DE

El Distrito Escolar de Perryton se esfuerza para proveer
una educación pública gratis y apropiada para todos los

VIAJES EDUCACIONALES
Viajes educacionales serán tomados durante el año

participar en estos viajes.
AL MUDARSE
Cuando un estudiante va a mudarse de la ciudad, por favor
notifique a la secretaria lo más pronto posible para que el
expediente pueda ser procesado. Los expedientes
escolares oficiales serán enviados por correo a la escuela
nueva del estudiante.
EDUCACIÓN FÍSICA
La actividad física es esencial para el desarrollo completo
del niño. El bienestar físico va mano a mano con el
bienestar mental. Necesitamos una nota escrita y firmada
por el padre si su hijo no puede participar en los ejercicios
físicos.
TRATAMIENTO MÉDICO DE EMERGENCIA
Cada año, necesitamos que los padres llenen una forma
dando permiso para tratamiento en caso de una
emergencia. LOS PADRES DEBEN MANTENER LA
INFORMACIÓN DE CUIDADO DE EMERGENCIA
RECIENTE (nombre del doctor, números telefónicos en
caso de una emergencia, alergias a medicamentos, etc.).
Por favor comuníquese con la secretaria o la maestra de
su hijo cuando tenga algún cambio en la información.
SERVICIOS DE SALUD Y ENFERMEDAD
Para proteger a todos los estudiantes, las siguientes reglas

El Acta “Ningún Niño Se Quedará Atrás”
Perryton Kinder recibe fondos del gobierno federal para
asegurarse que todos los estudiantes en Perryton Kinder
logren las normas estudiantiles de Texas. Perryton Kinder
se esfuerza en estrategias para aumentar la cantidad y
