GSU 1111 Global Culture, 3 credits
Course Description
This course seeks to give a basic understanding of other peoples and their cultures in the world as
manifested in different cultural and value systems. It will equip students to minister to people from
various cultures with the gospel of Jesus Christ more effectively. Special attention is given to the
contextual, historical, and contemporary issues related to Christianity in the context of a global
culture.
Course Goals
In this course you will understand:
The scope and nature of multicultural/ethnic globe
The scope and nature of the global Christianity
The United States as a multicultural society
The relationship/dynamics between the gospel and culture
The importance of intercultural interactions and ministry within the United States
Your role and life as a global Christian
Course Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
1. Describe the globe in terms of peoples and cultures
2. Summarize the biblical perspectives on the globe in terms of all the ethnic people groups
(panta ta ethne) and their cultures
3. Identify the global Christianity as a divine mosaic, i.e., different cultural expressions of the
Christian faith by God’s (ethnic) peoples
4. Identify God’s purpose for the United States as a multicultural society
5. Describe the relationship between the Gospel and culture as God communicates through the
medium of culture
6. Plan and strategize your involvement in intercultural interactions and ministry within the
United States and around the globe

The completion of the course reading is an important component of the course. You will be
required to submit a reading report at the end of each week.
B. WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS
Assignments for each week are explained in the Course Schedule. The point value for each
assignment is located in the Course Schedule in parenthesis beside each specific assignment.
C. CLASS PARTICIPATION
You must maintain a significant presence in the discussion board. There are seven (7) discussion
boards.
