Course Description Being able to create, develop, and modify existing applications is an important skill for MIS students. Business Software Development II is a continuation course designed to introduce students to the complexities of business software development. Using specific and complex programming tools is the main focus of the course. Course Materials Liang, D. (2012). Introduction to Java Programming, Brief, 9th Ed., Pearson. ISBN (978-0133050561). It is recommended that you use the paper version of this text and not an e-book. *You do not need the eText Access Card. All assignments and grades will appear in blackboard. Assignments: Assignments consist of written work and programs. Exams: Exams are multiple choice, timed examinations. Exam guidelines: • Attempt to take the exam on a wired connection to avoid disconnection. • You do not have to save each answer, however, if you become disconnected this is very helpful. Respondus Lockdown Browser MUST be used to take the exams. MIS 301 Business Software Development II 3 Grading and Evaluation Coursework will be evaluated on a total point system and will consist of exams, quizzes, homework, and other assigned activities. All points will be given equal weight when determining a grade for this course. Grades will be assigned as follows: 90% - 100% A 80% - 89% B 70% - 79% C 60% - 69% D 59% or less U There are 100 points possible in the semester. Midterm Grades: On-campus midterm grades will be assigned at midterm. For virtual courses, no midterm grades are given; however, students are encouraged to continually track their progress in blackboard. If you plan to work with other students in the course, please collaborate and DO NOT CHEAT! Many forms of communication are available including text, phone, email, Skype, voicemail. General Policy: Faculty are available by appointment or during office hours. Since only one form can occur at a time, if you receive no response, please be patient. Email Policy: Emails not CLEARLY defined in the subject line will be discarded without opening due to security reasons. A clearly defined subject includes your name, course, and topic of the email. Emails, depending on the request, take 1-3 business days for a response. If you want to know whether the email has initially been received, it is recommended to use a read receipt. Phone Policy: The Instructor may provide personal cell phone numbers. This allows easier access to the Instructor; however, remember they cannot always answer a call. Most calls are returned within the same business day. Text Policy (if available): Texting is normally immediately replied to, or replied to in the same business day. Texts will be in “text” format, or informal and normally shorthand. When texting, please identify with name and course similar to email. Skype Policy (if available): Skype provides many benefits for communication including videoconferencing, live chat, and screen sharing.
