Enger and Frederick C. Ross, 2003, is required for lab. You will need to make sure and purchase a NEW copy of this manual because some of the lab reports in the manual will be turned in as required lab assignments. Lab Attendance: The laboratory portion of class represents a unique experience for the student that is important in the study of science; therefore, attendance is mandatory. A valid university excuse is required to make up a missed lab. A missed lab MUST be made up in an alternative lab during the SAME week in which the lab will be missed. If extenuating circumstances occur that cause you to miss a lab, it is YOUR responsibility to inform the instructor of your impending absence BEFORE a lab is missed. DO NOT schedule doctor’s appointments or work schedules where they conflict with your attendance or time spent in lab. Lab Exams and Assignments: There will be two major lab exams that will each be worth 10% of your overall grade for the class. Lab assignments from the lab manual and general lab work will comprise 5% of the overall grade. Therefore, lab constitutes 25% of your grade for the course. Make-up exams for lab will only be allowed for extenuating circumstances, but must be taken during the week in which lab exams are normally given. Advance notice to the instructor MUST be given in these circumstances.
