Egyptians Masks
Please see the RE newsletter for ideas of how
to help at home.
We will be researching what different Egyptian death masks
looked like in order to create our own using paper mache.
We will be using paint to decorate them.
To help at home:
Use the internet or information books to find out more about
what Egyptian death masks looked like and what they were
used for.
History
Incredible Egyptians
We will be exploring the ancient Egyptians. We will be
learning about pharaohs, pyramids, hieroglyphics,
farming, the River Nile, and how pharaohs were
mummified. Following the Easter break we will be
visiting the British Museum which houses one of the
largest collections of ancient Egyptian artefacts
outside Egypt.
To help at home:
Research ancient Egypt either using the internet or
non-fiction books. Find information on some of the
famous pharaohs.
Music
ICT
Branching databases
We will be learning how to use a database
which sorts information through a series of
“yes” and “no” questions. We will create our
own branching database to sort Egyptian Gods.
To help at home:
Use the internet or information books to find out
about the Egyptian Gods and the differences
between them.
Science
Digestion and Teeth
We will continue to work with a member of staff from
Milton Keynes Music Service. We will be
looking at music from around the world. We will
continue our work on using tuned percussion.
We will learn about the major organs of the digestive
system and the way in which food is digested. We will
explore how teeth play an essential part in enabling the
digestive system to work efficiently. We will build on
previous learning by comparing the teeth of carnivores
and herbivores.
To help at home:
Listen to a range of music from different countries
and think about how they all differ. Explore rhythm in
different types of music.
To help at home:
Use books and the internet to look at the digestive
system and how it works.
PE
Gymnastics
We will be creating sequences with a
partner involving different balances,
travels and jumps.
Games
Invasion games
We will be looking at improving our game
tactics to develop our attacking and defending
skills. We will be using footballs and hockey
sticks in simple game situations.
Please take the opportunity to discuss and research these topics further with your child — thank you.
