Egyptian songs Dance – Egyptians Year 3 – Tag Rugby Science Teeth and Eating Miss Davis will remain with us until Friday 15th March. The class will continue to be taught German/French and Religious Education every Friday by Mrs Sheehy or Mrs Geithner-Hill. This half-term, the Year 3 children will be participating in some Tag Rugby sessions. These sessions will take place on a weekly basis and will be outdoors. Please could the children have suitable kit in school (tracksuit bottoms/leggings, warm jumpers and old trainers) to take part in the sessions. The kit will be sent home after each session to be washed for the following week. The Year 2 children will be continuing with their dance work in the hall. Classroom Routines These remain the same as last half term with the children being reminded to change their reading books on a Monday and Friday. The children may change their books on other days but they are responsible for remembering to do this. ‘Star of the Week’ and ‘Writer of the Week’ will continue to be awarded every Thursday. Please could all children have a water bottle in school. Homework Homework will continue to be set every Monday and should be returned by the following Monday. It is helpful if the children bring their book in even if they haven’t had opportunity to complete their homework so that the book can be kept up to date. In addition to this, the children will be given a Numeracy task on a Thursday which they can complete and return to school if they wish in exchange for bonus house points! This half-term we will be working on our 2, 3, 5 and 10 times-tables. Any practise of these at home would also be welcome! Creative Homework Following the success of our previous creative homework tasks, we have decided to set the children a new homework challenge relating to our topic. We are asking the children to design and make an Egyptian Headdress. Although this is an optional task it would be nice to see all children with a headdress, as the children will be wearing them as part of their Ancient Egyptian themed class assembly on the 14th of March. If the children need access to any materials or are unable to make a headdress at home, please let us know. We are also hoping to make mummies and coffins with the children in Art. We would appreciate it if the children could bring in any materials that might be useful for making their mummies and for wrapping them e.g. old Barbies/Action men, old fabric. Any dolls that the children bring in to wrap will be returned. We do have spares in school so please do not feel that you have to provide your child with a doll. Important Dates Thursday 14th March – Class Assembly – Please come to our ‘Egyptian’ themed assembly. Friday 15th March – Red Nose Day Wednesday 27th March – Easter Service
