Deeside Corridor upgrade
Following a detailed assessment and design scheme by our Consultancy Services team for
Flintshire County Council, traffic signal controlled sites along the Deeside Corridor are being
upgraded to Siemens ELV technology and current standards for pedestrian crossing widths
and signal positions. Aimed at helping alleviate current queues and delays, the upgrade
programme covers five junctions, three pedestrian crossings and a priority controlled roundabout
interchange along a 2.7km single carriageway. The project scope includes MOVA, implemented
with SCOOT loops for future upgrade to UTC, the installation of new signals and the total
redesign of two sites including junction realignment.

On show at Intertraffic 2014
Next month, Siemens UK exhibits a number of key products from its international portfolio of
traffic solutions at Intertraffic 2014 (25 - 28 March: Amsterdam RAI), Europe's top trade event
for infrastructure, ITS traffic management, safety and parking technologies.
In addition to exhibiting our popular ST950 traffic controller that has already been well received
by a number of export territories, we will showcase Stratos, our cloud-based traffic management
system, for the first time outside the UK. Alongside a number of exciting new products from
the broader Siemens portfolio, Siemens UK will also exhibit its cloud-based Low Emission
Zone solution, our average speed enforcement solution SafeZone and a complete range of
Heimdall above-ground traffic detectors.

Intertraffic 2014
Key order for China
Siemens traffic signal controllers, designed and manufactured in the UK are being supplied,
installed and configured in the County of Maigaiti in Kashi City, Xinjiang, in north-western
China. In the first phase, Siemens traffic control systems will control up to 44 intersections in
Maigaiti, with more intersections expected to be added to the system over the coming years.
Project implementation is expected to be completed by mid-2014.
Kashi is an important transportation hub in southern Xinjiang. The China-Pakistan highway
runs through the city and highways connect it with major cities in Xinjiang.

UK first for Siemens Electromobility
The UK's very first 20kW, multi-standard, rapid charger has been installed at Siemens in Poole,
Dorset. Capable of delivering an 80% charge in around 30 minutes, the new installation will
enable the company to charge its electric Nissan Leaf 'pool' car used by Siemens staff.
Thanks to the cooperation of two local motor dealers representing BMW and Nissan, the new
installation was demonstrated to local dignatories by charging the newly launched BMWi3 and
the latest Nissan Leaf.

ready for major events this summer. The controllers will be installed at 19 sites by local
installation company ARC Sinalizacão under contract to the Companhia de Engenharia de
Trafego.
Managed by the Siemens SCOOT system, the new controllers will be the first in the City to
use the UTMC communications protocol.

New low-voltage Wig-Wag option
A new version of our standard Wig-Wag signal is now available. Using low-voltage incandescent
50W HI aspects and transformers, the signals are designbed to replace old Wig-Wags where
customers do not wish to upgrade their existing 3rd party Wig-Wag controllers.
