Job ID: 214325 Apprentice – Field Service Operative – North West Siemens Traffic Systems | Lowton, Greater Manchester As an Apprentice you will be learning all aspects of the installation and maintenance of traffic signal equipment. You will attend college to complete a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, receive training by our in house training school and also be provided with a learning mentor. A successful apprentice would look to move in to either an Installation Operative role or a Maintenance Engineer role depending on progress, ability and business needs at the time. The role will be based predominantly in Greater Manchester, but may also cover the North West region as required. There may also be opportunities for secondment into other departments and therefore your location should be flexible. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS 4 GCSE’s including Mathematics and English (Grades AC), or equivalent. e.g. passed a functional skills test in the last 5 years that demonstrates the numerical and literacy skills to the level of GCSE. Hold or be working towards obtaining a full UK Driving License AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS You will spend the majority of the first year at College studying full time for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Beyond that you will combine day release at college with gaining real life skills working with experienced staff on site across the range of activities undertaken from the Lowton depot. Supports installation and maintenance of traffic signal assets and ancillary equipment Assembly of equipment On-site routine support work (e.g. cable pulling) Replacement of standard equipment (e.g. lamps) Visual inspections Successful completion of mandatory NHSS training requirements Out of hours working to support service and installation contract requirements Undertake appropriate training with the addition of new equipment and systems as and when necessary, via formal and informal training, including on the job training.
