Season’s Greetings
As the year draws to a close and we reflect on a busy 12 months, we at Siemens extend our
very best wishes for the festive season to all of our valued customers, partners and contractors.
Looking ahead to 2014, we will continue to do everything we can to support you with the delivery
of innovative, sustainable and affordable traffic products, solutions and services.
UTC extended in Brazil
Following the introduction of the first Siemens PC SCOOT Urban Traffic Control (UTC) system
in São Paulo, Brazil in 2011, further business for two new systems has recently been secured
in the region. Siemens will ship over 50 traffic controllers to Brazil including the company's
ST950 for deployment at 12 new intersections in Alphaville, one of the more affluent areas of
Brazil.

M27 traffic improvements planned for 2014
Siemens has been chosen to help alleviate the flow of traffic joining and leaving the busy M27
motorway at two junctions near Southampton Airport and Eastleigh and Southampton Docks
in Hampshire. Two traffic control schemes with major junction improvements, including the
supply and installation of additional signals and controllers running both MOVA and SCOOT
will be deployed to improve waiting times for traffic joining and leaving the motorway.
The project was secured with a share of a £170 million pinch point fund to remove bottlenecks.

Siemens is flying the flag for British manufacturing with a number of recent major export orders
for the supply of traffic control equipment manufactured at the company's award-winning factory

controller cabinets and signal heads.
In the Middle East, orders for the company's newly launched ST950 and associated signal
heads have been placed for major contracts in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Other significant international orders placed with Siemens in recent weeks range from new

New controllers installed on Manchester Metrolink extension
New ST950 controllers from Siemens have been commissioned this month at two junctions in
Manchester as part of the expansion link for the Metrolink Tram Network to Manchester Airport.
Offering full tram priority at complex Light Rapid Transport (LRT) junctions, the new controllers
combine integrated LRT functionality with increased flexibility, easy to use web-based user
interface and integral UTMC OTU and MOVA.
The installation and maintenance of all the traffic signals across the region is the subject of a
15 year contract with Transport for Greater Manchester.
