„Siemens in Europe – that is a workforce of 218.000 in all
28 EU-countries. Our common goal is clear: to keep and
create jobs at Siemens in Europe, to secure fair working
conditions, to facilitate information and of employees.
We will be successful if we coordinate our activities at
European level and represent our common interests also
across borders. Our IG Metall initiative ‚Mensch vor Marge’
(„People take priority over profit margin“) is a programme
for the future – also for the cooperation at European level
in the Siemens Group. The SEC-project „Agenda Siemens
2020“ sets the frame for the European expansion and
integration of this strategy. The SEC-initiative is a signal
for solidarity and cohesion of all employees of Siemens in
Europe. Together, we can achieve a lot.“
AT ONE GLANCE
EUROPEAN PROJECT
SEC-AGENDA SIEMENS 2020
SEC-PROJECT GROUP
SEC-AGENDA „SIEMENS 2020“
DECEMBER 2013 – DECEMBER 2014
The SEC currently has 36 members from all 28 EU
countries, as well as Norway and Switzerland.
The aim of the „SEC Agenda Siemens 2020“ project is to
develop and implement a long-term strategy for the
representation of employees throughout Europe, as well
as information and transnational cooperation on the
Siemens Europe Committee (SEC) of Siemens AG.
The project activities are implemented by the executive
committee (EC) of the SEC, together with the national
employee representative bodies in the SEC-Region NWE
(North-West Europe) (Agenda-Group).
The outcomes are fed back to the European SEC-Regions
and discussed at a SEC Agenda conference.

Projekt VS/2013/0506
The political objectives and activities of the European „SEC Agenda Siemens 2020“ project fall within three key areas
AGENDA – STRATEGY „SIEMENS 2020“
REPRESENTING EMPLOYEES IN EUROPE
EMPLOYEE RIGHTS IN EUROPE
Representing interests and safeguarding the
future!
Reinforced cooperation and acting in solidarity!
Making participation possible – using social
dialogue!
We support forward-looking and sustainable corporate
development. We do not focus on increasing profits
and shareholder returns – but employee participation,
skilled employment, fair wages, jobs with development
potential and improved labour standards.
We are committed to supporting all Siemens employees throughout Europe. At national level only,
it would not be possible to bring sufficient influence
to bear on the detrimental effects, for employees, of
the push for internationalisation within Siemens. This
requires Europe-wide coordination, cooperation and
networking.
We want to ensure that progress is made in terms of
employee participation and co-determination in
Europe. It is precisely the conditions created by
profit-driven cost cutting strategies and global
restructuring, which form part of the group’s policy,
that necessitate systematically improved and effective
information/social relations – both for national employee representative bodies and social dialogue with the
Siemens Management.
Harald Kern
Chairman of the
Siemens Europe
Committee (SEC)
„We reject the efficiency programme Siemens 2014 that is
merely driven by profit margin. The SEC-project ‚Agenda
Siemens 2020‘ gives us an additional platform for European
information, exchange and cooperation. Together, we
campaign that at Siemens in Europe people and not only
profit margins are central. We want to preserve and develop
social conditions and jobs at Siemens in Europe.
This includes fair working conditions, sustainable and
innovative approaches and a culture of trust at all levels in
the company. We will use the SEC-project to make progress
in this respect – at national and European level.“
By means of the SEC Agenda strategy, we aim to
promote forward-looking approaches, which will
improve structures at Siemens locations in Europe,
based on innovation, employment and labour policy
objectives.
We will reinforce the continuous preparation of
information, transnational discussion and networked
cooperation on the SEC and across Europe. By means
of a European work programme, we wish to improve
participation and our ability to take action.
The SEC Agenda project provides information on the
European policy framework for employee participation
in multinational groups and European standards for
corporate culture.
We will combine our topics, objectives and opinions
as part of the SEC Agenda and jointly decide how
they should be implemented at European level.
The SEC Programme aims to promote solidarity and
cohesion between all Siemens employees in Europe.
Only a strong European Works Council can negotiate
on equal terms and successfully bring about changes!
