II. Flow Charting
A. Event flow charting
B. Commodity flow charting
Flow charting is a free-form technique which
demonstrates a progression of activities over a
specific period of time. In flow charting, the
focus is on relationships between activities,
events and commodities in terms of chronology
or sequence.
III. Link Analysis
Link analysis is used to summarize relationships
between subjects in complex criminal conspiracy
cases. Used as a conventional investigative tool,
a link chart graphically illustrates known and
suspected associations between individuals,
businesses and other entities.
IV. Telephone Toll Analysis
This section offers an overview of the automated
toll analysis program used by ROCIC. In toll
analysis, information from subpoenaed telephone
records is downloaded or entered into an automated
system. A computer printout itemizes all telephone
calls and arranges them in various report formats
and orders of presentation. Large volumes of data
are condensed into easy-to-read automated
reports from which significant telephone activity
may be identified.
V. Case Analysis
In case analysis all relevant activities of victims,
suspects and witnesses are identified and presented
in order of occurrence. Pertinent details may be
inserted in a consistent manner for each specific
case as desired by the investigator. The case analysis
chart sequentially illustrates the reconstruction of
key events in the case.
