Easter in Llanddew
Firstly, we must thank all those who helped clean and decorate the Church in readiness for the Easter
Services. We are grateful to those who gave up their time to make the Church look so beautiful.
Easter Hamper: We are delighted to say that Mrs Nita Jones won the Easter Hamper. Thanks are
extended to Ian and Ann Kinsey for the Hamper and Mary Morgan for the bottle of wine which raised the
sum of £110 for Church funds. Thank you to everyone who supported by buying raffle tickets.
Good Friday Service: Gill Todd led the Devotional Service on Good Friday which was well attended. This
service was a time for reflection on the Passion of Christ.
Easter Sunday: The Easter celebration Eucharist was led by Rev Janet Russell and Gill Todd. The service
was well attended with a number of children present. The Easter story was played out with the children’s’
participation. After the service the children also enjoyed an Easter egg hunt while the adults enjoyed
refreshments with simnel cake.
Prayer Group: We will be meeting at 10am on Friday, 22nd May at Mary Evan’s home, new members
welcome.
Fellowship Group: This month we will be meeting on the 11th May at Meadow Breeze. The group are
studying the Book of Acts. New members are very welcome. As a result of the fundraising luncheon held
on the 9th March, the Fellowship Group raised £110 towards the Bishop’s Lent Appeal
Fair Trade: St David’s Church is signed up to being a fair trade church community. All the tea and coffee
we use is Fair Trade. The church is not large enough to have a stall selling Fair Trade goods but Gill Todd
will circulate a list of the Fair Trade goods starting in July. There will be a list left at the back of the church
and anyone interested can then order items.
Annual Vestry Meeting: was held on Sunday 19th following the morning Eucharist. All reports were
accepted and officers and sidespersons re-elected.
Thanks are extended to Trevor and Norah James for providing the new wardrobe to hold the Vestments.
With its state of the art lighting and heating system it is hoped the vestments will now be continually aired.

Llanddew Community Council:
Homewatch scheme: The current scheme is no longer operational. We have been in touch with the Police
Constable for the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and he has advised us of a Neighbourhoods Watching
Scheme. If anyone is interested in this scheme please contact one of your local Community Councillors.
Under the defunct Homewatch Scheme, reports have reached us of an alarming nature and we need
villagers to be extra vigilant. A squirrel has been spotted in the village appropriating nuts. Naturally we
wish to put a stop to this and anyone spotting the said squirrel will need to inform our new volunteer
Squirrel Co-ordinator, Mr Trevor James.
Congratualtions: To Marj and Lyndon of Ty Haf, Park View who became grandparents to Emir Ray.
Congratulations to his proud parents Catherine and Mico Isik.
