It will probably be introduced from January 2015 as there was a lot to be decided and the team needed to get the views of their peers. Class Council meetings would need to be held to hear ideas. The new system will make Team Points more difficult to come by. When they are given out it will be recorded by a member of staff. The points will also be put into a container which will be collected on a Friday morning and counted by the School Captains. Point cards might be different colours for each house and children put their names on them. Awards will be given out on a Monday morning for the whole house. At half term the person who has earned the most points will receive a shield/cup. Each year the children will start with zero points. The prizes will be better as more points are earned. Gold stars will be awarded. Milestones of 10, 20, 30 points etc. Mrs. Kinsey said that these were just some of the ideas she had thought of but would see what suggestions came back from the [Type text] Class Meetings. A member of the Team asked what would happen with the Tam Points that children have at the moment. Mrs. Kinsey and Mrs. Jones thought that although not every child would receive a certificate those who were within 5 points of their next certificate would still receive it. It was explained that there needed to be a cut off point before starting the new system. Items discussed: The Team were asked how Team Points were currently awarded within their Year Groups: Good Behavior Good Maths/Literacy work Being polite First table to be ready at the end of the lesson Tidy tables Being honest Mrs. Kinsey asked whether these reasons are part of Good to be Green and following the Golden Rules. Pupil Leadership agreed that some of them were. A comment was made that Team Points were given for opening a door or saying please and thank you. Mrs. Kinsey wondered if those things should be part of what we do within school each day. The Team were asked if sometimes points were too easy to obtain. Some of the Team thought they were not always given to the children who ‘always do the right thing’. Some children put extra points on their card. Children who had yellow cards for Team Points. Some of the Team thought that this was unfair. [Type text] Mrs. Kinsey said that she would like Team Points to be more difficult to earn and wanted suggestions for how this could be achieved. Pupil Leadership suggested that perhaps we would have Inter-House quizzes. They thought that this would be good for competition. [Type text] [Type text]
