SIPLACE SX placement machines and DEK Horizon printers
Hardware, software and process expertise for high-mix electronics production are special focus areas of ASM Assembly Systems at this year's SMT Hybrid
Packaging trade show (May 5 –7, 2015, Nuremberg Exhibition Centre). To underscore this point, the company is presenting at its booth (H7-311) a SMT line solution that has been optimized especially for high-mix applications with a DEK
Horizon 03iX printer and two SIPLACE SX2 placement machines. With technical features like the latest, even faster generation of the SIPLACE SpeedStar CP20P placement head, the highly flexible SIPLACE MultiStar head, barcode readers and SIPLACE LED Centering, the SIPLACE SX machine represents the state of the art for highly diverse, complex products in small lots or even one-offs. The modular DEK Horizon printing platform being shown fits in perfectly with this theme. Options like VectorGu ard™ stencil frames and DEK HawkEye™ camerabased verification deliver the high throughput rates users want and need. In the
ASM Experts Area, experienced DEK and SIPLACE process specialists stand ready to talk with visitors about process solutions that comprise innovative setup concepts, software solutions for transparent material management and fast new product introductions, as well as DEK process support tools and services.
Featuring hot-swappable SIPLACE X-feeders, interchangeable gantries and highly flexible SIPLACE MultiStar placement heads that can switch between collect-and-place and pick-and-place modes, SIPLACE SX placement machines were developed especially for the needs of high-mix production environments. Show visitors can see for themselves in live demonstrations on a line at the booth in Hall 7 that features a
SIPLACE SX2 equipped with two new CP20P SpeedStar heads. This latest generation is capable of placing up to 36.000 components (SIPLACE benchmark) per hour in sizes www.asm-smt-solutions.com

ranging from 0201 (metric) to 6 mm x 6 mm x 4 mm (l/w/h). The end-of-line machine is another SIPLACE SX2 with a highly flexible SIPLACE SpeedStar head and the highprecision SIPLACE TwinStar for large components, connectors and odd shapes.
During live demonstrations, visitors can experience additional details like barcode reading for the flexible management of very small lots, 03015 placement, and SIPLACE
LED Centering. With LED Centering, the machine aligns the LED not on its physical center, but its optical axis – a feature that is required for complex applications like LED headlights for vehicles.
Modular: DEK Horizon 01iX
For flexible stencil printing, the high-mix SIPLACE SX machines are preceded by a
DEK Horizon 03iX printer. Since the DEK Horizon platform is highly modular, users can add feature- and performance-enhancing options at any time. Other performanceenhancing options include camera-based print verification with the DEK HawkEye, tools for automatic board support, special stencils, stencil frame systems, and many more.
Process advice included: ASM Experts Area
Show visitors can ask questions and get advice in the ASM Experts Area. Experts from the DEK and SIPLACE teams share their practical experiences, demonstrate software solutions for process improvements, and provide valuable tips for making high-mix electronics environments more efficient and productive.
