SIPLACE Press News SMT Hybrid Packaging 2012 Munich, May 8, 2012 SIPLACE team makes maintenance a core topic at the SMT Hybrid Packaging show Maintenance made easy Innovations in electronics productions are not limited to hardware and software, as ASM Assembly Systems demonstrates at this year’s SMT Hybrid Packaging trade show (Hall 7, Booth 204). Since the modern SIPLACE placement solutions require very little maintenance and the maintenance intervals are getting longer and longer, electronics manufacturers want new, more flexible maintenance concepts in addition to the availability of external service technicians. To meet this demand, the SIPLACE team is rolling out its “Capability Transfer”, a new model which provides customers not only with the necessary maintenance expertise, but special tools and equipment as well. The benefit: Customers can perform their entire maintenance in-house and adapt more effectively to their individual production requirements. Show visitors will see how they too can optimize the maintenance procedures for their SMT lines with relatively little effort and integrate them into their production processes. With the new SIPLACE service contracts for preventive and verifying maintenance as well as inspections and improvements, electronics manufacturers can now outsource even the planning of their maintenance activities. Another growing challenge in the maintenance field is the verification of machine capabilities. SIPLACE offers ways to accomplish this either with the help of SIPLACE technicians or do it entirely in-house with its new Capability Transfer model. Practice-oriented information about improving maintenance procedures is also available in the latest issue of the SMT Whitepaper Insights series of publications. With its presentation at this year’s SMT Hybrid Packaging trade show in Nuremberg, the SIPLACE team wants to make the industry more aware that there is lots of room for improving the maintenance processes in many factories. And to better map the increasingly special requirements of electronics manufacturers, the SIPLACE Service team developed a new concept with flexibly combinable service modules. The portfolio ranges from open, company-specific or on-site training seminars to the flexible “booking” of technicians to SIPLACE’s new “Capability Transfer” program. New: Capability Transfer as a service model With its Capability Transfer program, SIPLACE trains and certifies the electronics manufacturer’s own technicians. It also provides them with the necessary special measuring devices and tools, either via a licensing deal or in the form of a short-term rental agreement. That way, SIPLACE customers will be able to have most of their maintenance tasks performed by their own teams. The Capability Transfer program even extends to the subject of machine capability certification, which is playing an increasingly important role in many industries. For example, the company makes available a kit that includes a special glass board with reference markers and glass components or ceramic pads for certifying a machine’s placement accuracy. That way, a manufacturer can perform verifications and test runs required by customers or for special certifications such as EN ISO 9001 quickly and cost-effectively with his own staff. “Despite all the progress we have made to maintenance-free equipment: if you don’t want to incur the cost of breakdowns or unscheduled line stops in your plant, you must optimize your maintenance processes. That’s why a flexible production requires flexible maintenance processes and services. Our latest SMT Insights brochure provides a good overview of this important subject, and we look forwarding to telling people more SIPLACE Press Office Susanne Oswald Rupert-Mayer-Strasse 44, D-81350 Munich, Germany Tel.: +49 89 20800-26439; Fax: -24260 E-mail: susanne.oswald@asmpt.com Internet: www.siplace.com Page 2 of 4 about it at our booth at this year’s SMT Hybrid Packaging trade show,” says Thomas Schneider, product marketing manager on the SIPLACE team.
